Hello, few weeks ago on one PC after update to 128esr messages were blank so I did folder repair. After that repair I have lost over half year of e-mails which I can't see. Today I found of that from Global Search I can see messages from period in time which I do not see in Inbox folder. Any solutions for this to get messages back in Inbox?

While I was away in June/July (2024) my Thunderbird email appearance changed. I used to be able to search my emails by sender, recipient, subject, or body (text) but now there is just a little search window in the upper right that does not allow much searching at all. Is there any way I can get back my ability to search?? Please?

Hi there, I have installed Fedora on a desktop and CAElinux on a laptop. In the laptop I have Thunderbird and for a while or subfolders were there. On the desktop I decided to try Kmail and all the subfolders disappear which most likely is because i didn't know much about Kmail. Then I tried using Thunderbird on the desktop with the same settings that where working on the laptop and the subfolders dissapear. Then I turned on the laptop while the desktop was on with Thunderbird on, and when i started Thunderbird on the laptop, the subfolders disappeared. Seems like a domino effect. Now all the email are shown in one big list, but only this years emails are shown. If I open the email on the internet through the email provider all the subfolders are still there. Now I have removed Fedora from the desktop and installed an identical setup as the laptop. I don't want to start Thunderbird on the desktop until i have recovered the subfoders and emails in the laptop and I know that I am following the right path. By the way the desktop is dual boot Windows / Linux and if I start Thunderbird under Windows all the subfolders and emails are there. Could someone please tell me how to recover the subfolders and emails running Thunderbird under Linux , thanks.

When my Thunderbird was hanging, I decided to reload the program. All my previous emails and addresses were gone. When I tried to input an earlier profile, I received an error message. The error console did not explain the problem. My lost emails are somewhere resident on my hard drive, but I don't know how to get to them.

I came back home to Thunderbird after loosing my job that required me to use Outlook. Everything is fine except that when I start Thunderbird I am asked for the password for my SMTP server. Fine, that's what I expected, but if I check the box that says "Use Password Manager to remember this password" the password will not be remembered. I will be asked for the password next time I log on.

Any suggestions?

TIA!

I am using Thunderbird Beta 130.0b1 64-bit on Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22631. I have a KVM attached. My basic setup is, when the main PC (my home PC with the above specs) is connected to the KVM, I get my main monitor in the center screen with a secondary monitor on the left. When I switch the KVM, my center monitor shows the macbook on the right side (work monitor). When I switch back to the Windows 11 computer, everything goes back to the previous position except Thunderbird.

Here is something I've tried so far that seems to fix it, but it is odd that no other applications have this problem. If I make the secondary monitor on the left my primary monitor, and dock thunderbird on the left half of that monitor, when I switch the KVM to the macbook and back again, it seems to remember correctly where Thunderbird belongs (along with every other app). But if I go back to having the large center monitor the primary display, and switch the KVM away and back, everything goes back to where it was except Thunderbird for some reason.

I tried to run the system with the left monitor as the primary for a while and I use keyboard shortcuts too often which end up popping up items over on the side monitor all of the time which is more irritating. So I am wondering if there is something built into Thunderbird that specifically conflicts with remembering it's position when the KVM switches back.

It seems that the real problem is the fact that the center monitor is not only disappearing, but that the center monitor is switching between being the primary monitor and then suddenly being unavailable. Like Windows 11 is trying, only in the case of thunderbird, to remember it's last position relative to the primary monitor as opposed to its position relative to the last time the computer ran in a specific monitor configuration.

Thoughts? Should I report this to Microsoft maybe? Since this only happens with Thunderbird, is it something built into Thunderbird?

I have had Thunderbird on my Dell desktop of years. Since installing Norton Antivirus/Malware on the computer my Thunderbird program will not access my email. This is happening only on the machine that I installed Norton. I can use Thuderbird on another desktop. I have checked the settings in Thunderbird and he said that the Server ID had to be changed from smpt to mail. I do not know how this got changed. However, changing it to mail.rockisland.com did not make any difference. Thunderbird starts to connect to mail.rockland.com and then just freezes.

What settings in Norton could have caused this problem?

Thunderbird v.128.1.1esr (64-bit) (up to date) Windows 11 Pro v.23H2 OS Build 22631.4037 No VPN

Two days ago my Thunderbird installation stopped being able to access my Gmail account. Everything was working fine up until then. Now I get a notice to allow Thunderbird to access Gmail, I click 'Allow' and it fails to authenticate. Collecting mail from my other non-Gmail accounts is unaffected and works fine.

I see these permission approvals are triggering email alerts to my backup Gmail account for this one re: "A new sign-in on Windows" and I am consistently clicking "Yes it was me'" with no effect. I have not done anything to block this activity, and I have no problem logging into this Gmail account from any web browser using the same credentials I am using with Thunderbird ... and which were already in place when this started happening 2 days ago.

I checked in Thunderbird Settings > Privacy & Security and cookies are being accepted, and I can see the cookies in the list.

I have tried deleting the saved (unchanged) password, removing the cookies, and even removing the account and setting it up again, with no joy.

When re-setting up the account this morning, the account creation does not complete and I am receiving this notice: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." (see attached screenshot)

The username and password were (a) unchanged from 3 days ago when this worked fine and (2) confirmed as I can log in to that Gmail account just fine with any web browser using the same credentials, even with incognito browser.

Thinking maybe the Thunderbird auto-detected configuration is incorrect, I changed the IMAP Connection Secutiry setting for the account from SSL/TLS to STARTTLS where it took about 2 minutes on the Checking Password stage and ultimately failed with the same error message.

TIA for any assistance with being able to use Thunderbird once again to work with this Gmail account.

I am using Thunderbird on Windows 11 and I have foolishly allowed it to update itself to release 128.1.0.esr without checking the bug reports first. Now it turns out that this release removed the possibility to search the calendar for past events, which is absolutely essential for me. There is a Bugzilla entry for this but it is bogged down in discussions about who needs which date ranges to search in and how many instances to show for recurring events, so I don't expect a solution any time soon. How can I revert Thunderbird to the last release which still has that functionality? I have regular backups of my userprofile folder in case it helps.

Hello, recently I've been getting several Certificate warning messages that seem to have cleared up, but two problems persist. When I try to send email from domain hosted accounts (POP3), I get the image I have added, stating the sending has failed. When I send email from my ISP account (Comcast), I get "message was sent," but can't be copied to the Send folder. Any ideas? Thank you. (Windows 10 desktop, Norton Antivirus)
