TB is taking up 11GB on my disk. I want to keep everything on the server (IMAP), but restrict what is synced locally. In settings, I've reduced the sync period from Forever down to 400 days. So now, how do I clear off from my laptop the messages over 400 days old, which still keeping them on the server? Quite a few other posts refer to this, but I can't find one that's really clear.
Many thanks.
How do I find the nature of the problem, and how do I fix it?

Hi, I’m trying to move from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit). Using the import wizard fails. Tools > Import select Import From Outlook and the following message appears. “Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client can not fulfil the message request”. I’m taken back to the Import from screen with the addition of a red panel with “No Profile Found” on it. Outlook 2003 is the default e-mail client, checked more than once. I’m trying to migrate to thunderbird so I have no account setting, thinking they would be imported. My pst’s files have been moved to a directory on a different partition to the Outlook programme, tried creating a dummy profile using default Outlook storage and still fails. I’ve looked at converting pst files to mbox, but this doesn’t see to include the account settings. But I could add them manually or I can not import the mbox files or directory structure into Thunderbird. I’ve been messing around trying other things but nothing works. Internet searches, Thunderbird forum searches suggests solutions but all fails and the steps don’t match Thunderbird menu, etc in many cases. I’m stuck. Can anyone give any advice on how to migrate from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird. Tools, Add-Ins or manual methods, anything just to get me up and running. PS I’ve two pst files, one is the default main Outlook.pst and the second a secondary store I created in the folders of Outlokk called Store.pst, beside the none default storage location everything else is standard for Outlook and Thunderbird.
Hello, after a recent update, I keep getting this error when trying to open Thunderbird: "couldn't load XPCOM. How can I fix this error? Thank you.

Greetings.
I am using Thunderbird 125.0 (32-bit) on a Windows 10 PC (Windows 10 Home Version 22H2).
Within its Calendar interface, the Find Events function has no option to search all events, as shown in the attached screen shot.
Although I do not use this "Search All" functionality frequently, I do consider it essential.
Unfortunately, I am uncertain when it became unavailable. However, I suspect it was sometime within the past several months.
Thank you in advance for any clarification you may provide pertaining to this issue.

I have a CSV file from Outlook with addresses I want to import into Thunderbird.
In an older version of Thunderbird I was able to match the fields in the CSV to the fields in the Thunderbird address book but in the latest version this seems to be missing - I was able to move the fields up/down to match before importing but this doesn't seem to be available (see attached screen shot). The import screen looks different with no way of moving fields up/down to match.
The drop down arrows on the fields on the right (the Thunderbird address fields) only show one field so I am not able to match them.
How do I match the fields to the CSV file so I can import my addresses/contacts.
Thanks

I receive lots of junk or scam emails. I don't open them in order to make sure nothing negative happens. I'm constantly close to running out of storage space due to all these daily emails. My question is: is there a way to safely block or unsubscribe from these emails without clicking on them (opening them)? I right click on them in Thunderbird but don't see a suitable option. Also, I haven't ever deleted my junk folder, and I know there are emails in there that I need, so I can't periodically delete the junk folder (at least not for foreseeable future). I'd be very appreciative of any help! Thanks in advance.
I get a popup window that wants me to approve that thunderbird gets access to my emails with all rights. How can I get rid of it.

Just switching between inboxes can cause up to a 10 second delay with Thundebird "not responding" with the spinning wheel. It has been like this for the last few laptops I've had and through all the updates and I am getting ready to call it quits. I did a performance recording of me just clicking through the different folders and then it locks up on one. You can see it here https://share.firefox.dev/3WlrRi9
I am using a primary gmail imap account, an office 365 imap account, and another imap account from an ISP.

After the update to 115.12.2 (64-bit) installed, I made a couple of changes to tasks and TB went sideways and crashed, and continued to crash upon startup every time I restarted, even after a reboot. So, I copied a backup of my AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird directory onto the TB AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird dir. Now TB starts, but I have only Mail and I see no way to get Calendar/Tasks back. How do I do that?

Hello, I have been using TB for a long time wiht no mayor problem. I recently had a problem with the hosting services of 2-3 of the email addresses I use in TB and when I now open TB I can click once on the pop up (say on cancel), but when the next pop up message appears (with the same message but for another email address) TB freezes.

When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).
Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?
I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.
Thanks for the help!

Thunderbird automatically installed the latest version 115.3.3 onto my desktop running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit but ever since it's really slow. When I start it up it takes 15 to 20 seconds before it downloads any emails - the blue prgress bar in the bottom right hand corner takes that long to finish.
Then, often, when I send even a simple email it takes ages for it to go once I hit send.
Does the new version have lots of bells and whistles that I don't really need and can disable to get it running as it used to? Or is there something I can do to get it working properly again? I'm not really all that technical so simple instructions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mark

I recently updated Thunderbird to 115.3.3. When the update was complete it appears to have split my profile into two and created two of Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash. I use Earthlink which is the name of the POP3 account. Now there are Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash for "Earthlink", and a set for "Local Folders". Junk and Archives are only associated with "Local Folders", and "Outbox" shows up under a "Local Folders" header along with all of the folders I used to organize received messages. When new messages are downloaded they appear in "Inbox / Local Folders". Nothing appears in any of the "Earthlink / ..." folders.
I don't recall exactly what it looked like before but there was only one set of the primary folders, and the local folders I created to organize my inbox. I have attached screenshots of the the folder navigation pane, as well as the odd organization of the "Account Settings" tab. I am admittedly not an expert. Any help is appreciated.
