As many users do, I download the full FireFox package directly from the Mozilla FTP server and extract the contents of the EXE for checking and direct copying into a custom configured target directory. I do this for a number of reasons which will not be detailed here.

The the setup files for the latest version of the ESR release are failing the checksum test during extraction. This is not isolated to this version as the 114.x.x and 113.x.x version files also seem to be effected by this problem.

Checksum failures directly indicate that the files extracted can not be trusted.

@FireFox Dev team, Please investigate this issue and resolve as soon as possible.

With the release of the new ESR version, version 115.x.x, the install creates a shortcut in the Windows Start Menu called "Firefox Private Browsing". How can the creation of this shortcut be prevented during install?

For Debian Linux, I have a post-installation script in which I would like to make a few local settings for a newly created user account in the file ~/.mozilla/firefox/<profile-directory>/user.js. However, before the user has launched Firefox there is no ~/.mozilla directory. Knowing that the default profile directory name ends with .default-esr I tried creating a new profile with the command

firefox -CreateProfile default-esr

but when Firefox is launched it creates another profile directory which ends with .default-esr-1. How can I create local settings from a script (without user intervention) before Firefox has been launched?

I run Debian 12.1 and Mozilla Firefox 102.13.0esr (from the standard repository).

I have windows 8.1 and just downloaded firefox update. Msg said was last update and to download a file for extended coverage until Sept 2024. Did that and now all my previous settings and ALL BOOKMARKS gone !!! How do I get them back? I know there is json file but how do I access and utilize to get bookmarks back? Thanks. I have two profiles on one computer and I want to use these profiles in different languages for web pages (one in English and one in my native language). If I sign-in the two profiles using one common Firefox account, this seems to be impossible: a change of the language setting in one profile immediately reflects into the other profile. Is there a way to disable the sync of language? I want histories and bookmarks to be synced across the profiles and thus I want to use the same account. Thank you.
