I have the most recent updated Thunderbird, I wish to delete a email account, however under settings Account Actions is absent. I have tried searching for and answer but no way to remove it so far. I have used Thunderbird for near 10 years and usually there is the Account Actions menu item. I see all settings its should be right under the item Return Receipts. But nothing is there.
Thank You for the help.

I've been using TB for years with an AT&T account on a Windows 10 desktop. Two days ago all was working well sending and receiving. I stepped away for an hour (without obvious updates or changes) and surprisingly it didn't work, with TB asking for a password but not accepting it. I deleted saved passwords and tried multiple times, even changing my AT&T email password twice. I could access the email account directly through the AT&T website using those passwords.
I spoke with an AT&T support rep and he had me delete the account in TB. I did so but now can't reestablish it. I've repeatedly tried to add a new email account using credentials I know are correct, trying numerous POP3 and IMAP protocols, all without success. When TB probes the AT&T servers it says it finds those parameters, but then when it checks the password it fails, simply giving the vague message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password."
I've spent two days researching this problem and trying proposed solutions such as disabling firewalls and anti-virus programs, clearing Windows and internet caches, deleting saved passwords, etc. I was able to set up the account using Outlook on this computer, and if this continues I'll unfortunately be forced to abandon TB and move to Outlook or similar as a substitute. Advice would be appreciated!

After the latest update: Every time I send a message and have selected at recipient, the program searches for a cetificate, allthough encryption is swichted off. A box appears for each recipient for about a minute, unless I stop the search (see image). Essentially, the program acts, as if I had selected encryption. This was newer an issue before latest update.

I was subscribed to a large distribution list, but then unsubscribed. But I didn't unsubscribe. So I subscribed again, but was soon unsubscribed again! My email address and password may have been hacked. So I logged into my Comcast ISP and changed my email password. Then I started Thunderbird, and as expected, it asked for my password, and I gave it. My email came up. I tried sending an email and it asked for a sending password. I ignored it, but after a long delay, it refused to send the message. So I tried again, this time giving it my new email password. The sending then worked. I assumed all was now OK.
But, as a final test, I exited Thunderbird, and then restarted. It again came up OK with my emails shown. Then I again tried sending a test message to myself. But it again asked for my sending password! Thinking this might be a scam, I put in a password of "bullshit". Then I received the following popup message:
Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Polite people say HELO first. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.
What!!! It sure seems like someone (at Thunderbird?) is in the loop grabbing my password before encoding it for storage. A similar thing happened in the past, where I think my account was hacked. So, was this a hacking attempt, and if so, was it from Thunderbird software or my Comcast ISP?

We are using three locations to send emails from this email address. One of the computers at one home, sometime in mid April, was put into a block of some kind for having a PUP (the best I can figure out, don't really understand this stuff.) We had the block removed and most emails are now going through from that one computer. The other computers never had a problem getting their emails to the recipients. The one computer that had trouble, now has Maleware Bytes and Adwcleaner installed, that's what we did to get out of email jail I guess.
The problem is, any of the people that we attempted to email during the week or so that our email was in jail, even though it is fixed, our emails to those people are not getting to them still. We have to use another email address to get them to receive from thunderbird sent from our one computer.
We are not super computer savvy as far as this behind the scenes computer technology goes and need help so that we can reach all our customers reliably. We did try to identify if we were still blacklisted and saw 1 hit but don't understand how to fix it now that we have the additional spyware type stuff added to our computer. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I had to change my Google account and therefore my Gmail password due to a reported security breach. I've successfully changed my password for Gmail on my iPhone and iPad but I can't on T'Bird.
I expected that when I opened T'Bird, I'd get an error message saying my password was invalid and then prompting me to enter the new password for my Gmail account. That's the way it used to work and it worked well.
Instead, I get some sort of useless error message about STAT (??) and my credentials are invalid. I get no prompt to enter the now changed password. I get no info as to WHAT credentials aren't valid.
So I opened the Password Manager, found the Gmail line, entered Show Passwords and then edit password. I entered the new password, double checked it and closed out the Password Manager. I get the same useless message about STAT. The old password was *not* the Gmail password.
I opened the Password Manager to find the password is entered correctly. Why is this simple operation so miserably difficult? The old method worked perfectly every time now this one won't at all.
