When I try to send an email from my dmonkman1@cogeco.ca account, I regularly get a message stating "Password required for outgoing (SMTP) server. When I enter the password associated with this email account, the same message reappears. The strange thing is that sometimes this message does not appear and the emails do send properly. I also sometimes get a message saying that the email was sent but that a copy was not placed in my Sent folder. I've updated Thunderbird (115.12.1 64-bit) but the problem still occurs. I've also spoken to my internet provider (Cogeco) and they're telling me that it's a Thunderbird issue.

Yet twice in the last couple weeks, Thunderbird has updated without asking.
I do not run any updater software, TB must be doing this itself.
What settings in v115 are required in the config editor to ensure that updates are not installed without user intervention?

When The app launches or when it's told to send / receive, the app says it is downloading 10 messages but only 5 show up in the inbox (the actual numbers are for example only). The extra emails do not appear to be in the junk folder. The two accounts are: @verizion and @netzero. Where are the other emails going? I've looked in all the local folders. Any help truly appreciated.

Gumtree has advised me that my email client, which is Thunderbird, is identifying them as Spam, and is deleting them! I check the junk folder of that account regularly, and they are not sent to that folder. I would like to stop them being deleted. How do I do that ? Thanks for your help. Denis.
Emails download to Mailwasher Pro but won't Wash to Thunderbird. This has been going on for a week and I have tried a few things but no change.

Starting 3 days ago: Cannot SEND email - receiving works fine. Error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please ensure your email address and authenticating user match when sending messages. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.
The other odd thing is that I get asked for a password before sending which never happened before.
I followed advice given someone in 2022 - I've messed with the account settings (unfortunately) and I've changed the SMTP settings to match what Comcast recommends.
I have 3 comcast accounts; two work fine on my iPad and iPhone - one doesn't
Also I have no problem sending emails using Xfinity/Comcast Mail... but I want to use Thunderbird.
Where do I start looking?

It does not appear for me. There are only the five options, as shown in the screenshot. How do enable the option to be available in the drop-down list or set it?

Starting a few months ago Tbird suddenly became noticeably slower, and it's only continued/possibly gotten worse, despite several version updates (which I was hoping would fix it). Currently I'm on version is 115.12.1 (64-bit)
I do have several accounts (all pop) and many folders, but nothing different than before the issue began.
I only have 2 add-ons enabled; Remove Duplicate Messages & SmartTemplates. I've of course disabled them and restarted TBird but it didn't help at all.
I've compacted and repaired all folders.
I've created additional folders to reduce the size of larger folders.
The only thing that helped a bit was troubleshoot mode, which definitely made it a bit better going from email to email and folder to folder, and especially with moving emails from one folder to another (which is usually very, very slow and I see it on the bottom saying "moving email 1 of 10 to folder xyz...moving email 2 of 10 to folder xyz...", even if they are simple/small emails). However, sending emails still took over 5 seconds (see screenshot attached), so that might be a separate issue.
In terms of sending emails, whenever I try to send any email it sits on the sending screen for several seconds or more. My internet is fine (2gb fiber, previously 1gb cable), speed tests max out at the 1gb my laptop can handle. Laptop is 2-3 years old high-end Eluktronics, with no other issues.
Given the above, and that troubleshoot mode did seem to help a bit (but straight out turning off add-ons didn't help), what can I try to adjust (while not in troubleshoot mode)?

I would like to keep all mail downloading to Thunderbird - the option seems to be logging on/off yahoo for each address otherwise. Neither Cox nor Yahoo is helpful, though I've searched through the available information. Any suggestions? TBH, I don't remember exactly how I set up all of the email addresses and passwords when I first started using Thunderbird, which also downloads my gmail and ancient yahoo-addressed mail. Any help desperately appreciated!

Its driving me crazy. When I select a group of Inbox emails, and delete them, it is taking forever. The window will display a "not responding" message, eventually clear that and then the emails are deleted. But it takes way too long. Windows 11, most recent update. Thunderbird, it just updated. I was on a Win 10 computer, same Thunderbird version and deleting took merely a blink to happen.
Win 10 has both VPN AND AV. Win 11 has neither. Help! Thank you,
