Thunderbird crashed during a normal close (https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/3c0242b0-1a55-4eba-9f02-4a7bc0240126) and since then when I open Thunderbird, tabs appear for the messages I had open at the time of the crash, but they are all blank, and the tabs themselves are all empty. It is as if they are place-holders that are then never populated. I've attached a screen shot showing some of these tabs, with the crash report tab open and displayed.

About 1-2 months ago I reindexed folders due to mail apparently being missing and this resulted in a huge number of messages that had previously been dealt with becoming marked as unread again.

Ideally I would like the blank tabs to be reinstated and to be able to carry on working on my email from where I left off, but if this is not possible, I need to be able to identify the emails that were open in the tabs to be able to pick up the pieces. This is crucially important as I operate multiple accounts and it would be impossible for me to re-establish state any other way, especially in view of the earlier problem with email becoming marked as unread again. That would condemn me to needing to re-open many thousands of email items to identify those that may need action.

I renamed global-messages-db.sqlite which has been recreated and rebuilt but nothing has changed. The rebuilt file is significantly smaller than the original and if this implies that there has been data loss, I would rather reinstate the original file, if it is safe to do so.

My best guess is that the tabs are defined within history.sqlite and I have made a copy of this file but superficially it appears to contain a lot more than just tabs and it has been updated since the crash.

The most recent change I made to my Thunderbird configuration before the crash was the addition of the British-English dictionary.

The next most recent change to my Thunderbird configuration was the addition of a Proton Mail account using Proton Mail Bridge. I am accessing this account on behalf of someone who has sustained serious injuries and is unable to access it themselves. If this added account or Proton Mail Bridge is implicated in the crash in any way, I would prefer to remove the account and the Bridge software.

For the past few days when I have tried to log into a few websites which use TLS/SSL I have gotten PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR. Please see the attached screenshot for more details. This issue was observed ever since I updated to Firefox version 124.x. Prior to that the websites were working fine.

When I try to access the same websites and try to log into them using Microsoft Edge, I do not face a similar issue. They work fine.

I have cleared the browser cache, restarted firefox, and then tried. Still faced the same issue. I have cleared the DNS cache of Firefox browser (about:networking#dns) and then tried. Still faced the same issue. I have opened Firefox in Safe mode (Menu > Help > Troubleshooting mode) and still faced the same issue.

Can someone please help me in fixing the issue? I would like to refrain from using MS Edge or chrome browser.

as stated in the title, my HDD failed the other day and on recovery, my Thunderbird seems to have failed too.

I know (sort of) that it is all driven by the Profile.ini file.

But everytime I relaunch TB (even after what I think is an uninstall and a reinstall) I am getting : "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

I would be happy enough to have a blank TB load up and I would reconfigure my various email accounts. but I cannot seem to do even that.

I know there is a trick to getting to a Thunderbird configurator....but I have forgotten what it is.

Where does TB "look" when it starts up? how would I control that?

I have a Windows 10 pc, which is current with all Microsoft and manufacturer (Lenovo) updates. Thunderbird won't run since the last update. It just gives a message saying, "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to reboot now?" After several reboots, I have given up. A support forum solution from 4 years ago recommends deleting a file (global-messages-db.sqlite) at a location (C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\8charstring.default) that seems not to exist (hidden?) on my pc. What do you suggest? Thanks.

Hello, i have run Firefox for years on 2 separate computers each with their own data and now I want to sync them. My problem is I don't understand to the 2 different sets of data if I sync. Do the 2 sets 'blend' somehow? Does one set take primacy over the other (if so, how do I control which one it is?) or do I lose everything from both computers and start again? I've been wanting to sync for 12 months but I am so scared of losing information that I keep avoiding doing anything. Thanks Chris

The resulting calendar then works for one day but then disables itself and cannot be re-enabled (if I try to enable the calendar, it immediately disables itself again). I think this is happening because the calendar at the webcal link updates to a new file every day, so the specific link that Thunderbird resolves to becomes invalid on a daily basis. Other calendar applications that I use (like the iOS calendar app and the web interface for mailbox.org) do not resolve the link (they just leave it as webcal://github.com/othyn/go-calendar/releases/latest/download/gocal__community_day.ics) and they work fine, which is why I think the link resolution is causing the issue.

Is there a way to get this type of webcal link to work with Thunderbird?

So I've recently shifted from Chrome to Firefox and there's his specific touch pad gesture I set up on windows settings and it acts like media controls, but it seem to be unresponsive. Tried it with Chrome and VLC media player and it worked normally. Tried setting about:config; media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled but its already set to true.

Tell me how I can continue to use thunderbird with the above account and also Denis.Clarke.hotmail.com after September 18. I have 4 individual historic E mail accounts and thunderbird joins them together. What do you need to do? To deal with threat below.

Formatted my phone but playing videos still lags and stutters on Firefox browser on my Samsung. Only happens on Firefox, I've tested on Qwant, Duckduckgo and Brave and this problem doesn't occur. What might be the problem and solution?

It's interesting that sometimes the video plays fine until I unmute it. Sometimes the problem goes away after I stop and play or refresh the page. I often have to play the video on a different browser.

So, videos work fine on other browsers so I discart being a phone problem. But on my other phone this problem doesn't happen with firefox.

I've been for several months looking for help/answer/fix for this issue. And I've been with firefox for ever and I don't mind minor bugs and problems but this is starting to be a bit annoying and more and more I feel like I need to move on to a new browser.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years without any issues. I recently bought a laptop running Windows 11. On this machine, I have two accounts that cannot send emails via SMTP. What is puzzling is that I can retrieve emails through IMAP without any problems.

For another account I had to use STARTTLS to get it working. But on my Windows 10 machine, the same account is sending emails correctly with SSL/TLS.

Thunderbird is allowed through the Windows firewall and is on the antivirus whitelist.

I recently fixed an issue (connecting to Gmail) by allowing cookies, so it might be a simple fix like that.

Could someone help me, please?

Having followed the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d to update the security settings on my outlook/hotmail email accounts Thunderbird no longer reliably saves/enters the passwords. The password is saved in settings as that is where I copy it from to enter manually but why is Thunderbird not doing the entry as previously. It is not every log in and not always the same account, but regularly one or the other will come up with "enter your credentials" Also occasionally the credentials screen will flash on screen and then disappear, not necessarily for the account I am using at the time but one of the others. Firefox is very dear to me. I use it on my computer all the time for how much more relatively secure it is from other browsers. But Android version is a hellish nightmare. When I open the app, even with no previous tabs on, it will not be responsive for more than 30-45 seconds for seemingly no reason. Same thing when I kill the app and start it again. If it does have open tabs, it will either not be able to fetch their sum number to be displayed on the top right corner until that aforementioned timespan passes, and/or I wont be able to remove/add tabs until again that period of time passes! This is a blocking issue that's been there for well over a year and a half, if not longer!

One of the typical configuration in linux is to turn off the user namespaces and/or network namespaces. This is because most of the exploits in linux have been related to namespaces vulnerabilities.

If there is a Firefox ver 127.0.2, running on Linux in which the user namespace is turned off then the following is observed in the Troubleshooting information, i.e. about:support Seccomp-BPF (System Call Filtering) true Seccomp Thread Synchronisation true User Namespaces for privileged processes true User Namespaces false Content Process Sandboxing true Media Plugin Sandboxing true

So how come with the username turned off, the content process and media plugin is still sandboxed? Also is having user namespace turned off, as given above, a security risk?

However if the network namespace is turned off, i.e. max_net_namespaces is set to zero, then it renders the browser unusable. Nothing works. Why is that?

Is there some documentation somewhere where these namespaces and their impact is explained in detail?
