First of all, Thunderbird for whatever reason does not trust Lets Encrypt certificates. Is Thunderbird special?

Next, when it asks to confirm the cert, the confirmation dialog and a message box appear, hidden under the new email window. Is there a good reason why they should not pop up, like all normal new dialogs and message boxes pop up, in millions of other softwares? Does Thunderbird have to be special and hide its dialogs?

And lastly, it takes a deliberate development effort to hide new dialogs. Is there a good reason for you to do that to us, so that we have a hard time Alt-Tabbing into the confirmation dialog? What is it?

I just updated to version 115.11.1 and now if I delete a message in my unified Inbox, sometimes it deletes and quickly comes back and sometimes it just stays there and I cannot delete again (delete is greyed out). Sometimes it does go into trash but still shows in inbox. In my server settings for that email I have the deleted email set to go to trash for that inbox. Suggestions?

I might give you more info..it seems now if I delete the message either by right clicking or top menu delete, it sends to the trash but stays in the inbox (sometimes it goes away but comes right back). If it stays in the deleted unified folder and I empty that trash folder it comes off the inbox. I have W10..and mail is from Yahoo Cox conversion that was working fine until this update today. Yahoo does seem to be much slower than Cox was so I am trying to be patient and wait but it stays in the inbox until described. The bottom taskbar icon still shows a mail in the inbox too even though it is in trash or even emptied. I have to close TB and go back or say to close window for this new mail icon to clear.

I have also discovered if i send an email from my iphone, eventually it comes into TB but if I delete it on my phone it is gone in TB but is NOT in TB trash but it does eventually show on my iPhone trash...the only way i could see this is to remove Trash from that email account in the unified section and then it shows in the regular trash for that email...seems maybe the unified folders have issues after this update ..this is getting so frustrating...and surprised there has been no response to this help question either..I checked my email here and it is correct..

I have been using Thunderbird for years and love the program. I was surprised today when I was writing a long email and the cursor kept ending up in the Subject heading instead of the body of the email. My typing continued in the subject heading. I had to manually move the cursor back to the body of the text. I noticed this happened every time the email was automatically saved. It was very disconcerting to be looking at my keyboard then whenever I looked up, the text kept appearing in the subject heading.

There is obviously a bug in the software and the only answer I can figure out to fix this until it is corrected is to disable the Auto Save function. How do I do this?

I would report this to anyone interested in resolving bugs in Thunderbird, but I could not find who or how to contact the developers.

I have checked my Win 10 Control Panel Apps options. TB is the email default. MailTo, file type .eml and all other settings I can see are set to TB as well.

Ever since the Cox-Yahoo migration I am finally getting emails in TB (few glitches). but emails/changes take several minutes to appear/update on my iPhone . My iPhone only option is for Fetch and the time is 15 Minutes..so I have to open the MAIL app and it will look for new/updated messages but it takes a good 2-3 MINUTES to appear. And if I delete a message on TB sometimes it never updates..any suggestions?

When I select "Sent" emails to review to see what I have sent. I find that Thunderbird will not show emails with attached files. (see image) To see what I have sent with attachments I have to select attachments. (see image)

I would think that I should see ALL the emails sent when first selecting "Sent".

I then should be able to view only sent emails with attachments when I select attachments.

Are my settings off or is this a bug in the software?

Starting 3 days ago: Cannot SEND email - receiving works fine. Error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please ensure your email address and authenticating user match when sending messages. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

The other odd thing is that I get asked for a password before sending which never happened before.

I followed advice given someone in 2022 - I've messed with the account settings (unfortunately) and I've changed the SMTP settings to match what Comcast recommends.

I have 3 comcast accounts; two work fine on my iPad and iPhone - one doesn't

Also I have no problem sending emails using Xfinity/Comcast Mail... but I want to use Thunderbird.

Where do I start looking?

Can you at least tell us WHEN you plan to release the fix since you locked the comments to block the countless negative ones? Is it so hard for your UX team to understand that removing multiselect functionality is like removing Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V and set the correct priority???

cannot fetch mail except at startup (115.12.1)

So I've had Thunderbird for a few years. I've always had my (multiple) email accounts set to both check for new messages at startup, and check for new messages every 2 minutes (I keep it open in the background so I can be alerted ASAP). However since the last 2 updates, I can no longer fetch messages either every x minutes, or manually (Get Messages does nothing), and the only way to get new messages is closing and restarting TB completely, defeating the point of having it open in the background.

I've tried: 1) unchecking both 'Check for new messages at startup' and 'Check for new messages every x minutes' = still can't manually pull in mail with Get Messages (the status bar says it's checking, but nothing gets pulled in unless I restart TB)

2) leaving ONLY 'Check for new messages at startup' OR 'Check for new messages every x minutes' selected = nope

3) starting and restarting both TB and my PC = nope

4) checking my antivirus isn't blocking anything = it isn't

5) checking all my email account server settings/passwords are correct = they are

6) testing out Betterbird with the same accounts and seeing if it's still an issue = this also affects Betterbird

7) checking my email accounts are working in other software like Outlook/webmail = they're fine, I can get email there normally

Any ideas as to how to fix this?

IMAP account on HostGator.

In the last 9 months or so, every once in a while (sometimes several times in a row!) when replying to a message, Thunderbird does not set the \Answered flag on the IMAP server.

I enabled IMAP logging and finally caught this happening. The reply is sent and copied to the Sent folder, as it should, but the original email is never flagged as \Answered.

I can't seem to see a pattern why Thunderbird skips this step, occasionally.

Starting a few months ago Tbird suddenly became noticeably slower, and it's only continued/possibly gotten worse, despite several version updates (which I was hoping would fix it). Currently I'm on version is 115.12.1 (64-bit)

I do have several accounts (all pop) and many folders, but nothing different than before the issue began.

I only have 2 add-ons enabled; Remove Duplicate Messages & SmartTemplates. I've of course disabled them and restarted TBird but it didn't help at all.

I've compacted and repaired all folders.

I've created additional folders to reduce the size of larger folders.

The only thing that helped a bit was troubleshoot mode, which definitely made it a bit better going from email to email and folder to folder, and especially with moving emails from one folder to another (which is usually very, very slow and I see it on the bottom saying "moving email 1 of 10 to folder xyz...moving email 2 of 10 to folder xyz...", even if they are simple/small emails). However, sending emails still took over 5 seconds (see screenshot attached), so that might be a separate issue.

In terms of sending emails, whenever I try to send any email it sits on the sending screen for several seconds or more. My internet is fine (2gb fiber, previously 1gb cable), speed tests max out at the 1gb my laptop can handle. Laptop is 2-3 years old high-end Eluktronics, with no other issues.

Given the above, and that troubleshoot mode did seem to help a bit (but straight out turning off add-ons didn't help), what can I try to adjust (while not in troubleshoot mode)?
