I just got a new computer and downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird. When I ask it to download my new messages, I get a message like: "the certificate is not valid for the server. Someone may be trying to hack your email" .......the quote is not exact. Then, it will not download my new emails. Older emails were in Thunderbird when it loaded.

With my old computer running Windows 10 and a slightly earlier version of Thunderbird, I sometimes would get this message, but it gave me the option to go ahead, anyway. This new version, on Windows 11 does not give me that option.

Our email account "diamondkfarm.com" was set up by my daughter on Netfirms. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

I have a client that's using Thunderbird for email and it's been really challenging lately with folders constantly needing to be repaired, temp files deleted and the like.

I'm running repair on the inbox daily due to what looks like file corruption.

It's IMAP configured with SSL running.

Are there any known issues or fixes for this?

Client is up to date on the most recent Thunderbird version.

As I understand it, Thunderbird does not load many images in emails by default because the external provider of that image would receive the user's IP address.

It seems like some clients, such as outlook.com and gmail.com, just proxy the remote content so the user's IP is only exposed to the proxy provider (Microsoft and Google).

Is there a way to achieve this using Thunderbird? When I check images from my Microsoft or Google accounts, Thunderbird still seems to be retrieving them from their original remote sources. Could it instead obtain them through the email provider directly?

Alternatively, I have a VPN, though I seldom enable it for all traffic. Is it possible to bind remote content loading to a specific network interface?

I am making a feature request for official support (https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/remote-content-in-thunderbird-protected-proxy-loading/idi-p/65074).

Thunderbird is not exactly intuitive in operation and I'm nervous about updating from v.116 to v.128 - why is there such a big step between the two versions? Would my settings and preferences be retained?

At present I'm having trouble with disappearing columns - in particular the 'size' column. I have to untick the box in the dropdown menu, close the menu, then open it again and re-tick the option. The column re-appears but will vanish after a few mouse clicks. Would the update address this problem?

Thanks to anyone who might help.

My email has been running slow and i do not have the technical skill to follow protocols from a website. Am desperately trying to speak with a human. I have moved and my former support help is 200 miles away, so dropped my computer off for the first time at a computer repair business who needs my user name and passwords. I realize my request sounds suspicious and am happy to verify all of my company details, but can not do this without your help. My cell is [edited phone# from public community forum]. Thank-you, Eric Ohanian PS-I no longer have access to email until my computer is returned. Is there any way someone can call? Or is there a phone number I can call to reach you?

With no warning there is no message displayed in the message pane for emails received after an apparently random date and before messages received within the last hour or so - there is a gap between those dates. If the user clicks on an email between those dates the message pane shows the from, to and subject of the last email he was able to view, not the correct information, and the message is not displayed. The problem first occurred on 8/1 (don't know what caused it then) and on 8/14 after user opened a Word document attached to an email and printed it. At both times he was running 128.0, and a subsequent update to 128.1 didn't resolve the issue. Repairing the folder on 8/1 appears to have deleted all the messages that would not display, this is confirmed by a reduction in the byte size of the inbox. On 8/14 I copied the inbox (but not the .msf) to local folders, when I opened it the .msf was built with 0 bytes and the "problem" messages were not displayed although this time the byte size of the inbox didn't change. At this point reverting to an earlier version would be a very acceptable option if I knew how to find one we can rely on. Thank you very much for your time.

How do I clear this email? I do have "Send later" installed which I used to send these group emails. I have corrected the bad email address in the 3 pending group emails. I removed all but those from the draft folder.

I have been running Thunderbird for almost seven years now, and these behaviors have persisted since day one on my laptop and desktop computer. First, I have five accounts set up. I am running two add-ons (Provider for Google Calendar, and Quicktext). I am currently running a snap version 115.12.2 of Thunderbird on both machines and they both are running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Plenty of RAM and plenty of free disk space.

Here are the two issues...

1. More often than not, when an email comes into one of the inboxes and I am viewing the unified inbox there are two copies of the same email. If I switch back to the actual inbox of the account it only shows the one. This is very aggravating and when you start trying the delete emails from the unified inbox it gets all hosed up and I end up having to go to each individual mailbox to delete the messages.

2. This somewhat relates to issue one... Sometimes when an email is deleted from the unified inbox, a blank record remains like in the image. This shows only one but sometimes there are multiple ones. Of course, if I go to that message's inbox it is not there.

I have tried all the common things like deleting the index files to let the indexes rebuild, comparing folders etc., and again, this has been a persistent problem since day one. Any insight or solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! Mike

and I immediately began scrambling to get it back. I found this somewhere: "Don't Delete Files" is the preferred option because it saves the old profile's folder and allows you to recover the files to a new profile. So that gave me hope because that's what I had clicked (unfortunately, it was right before I saw the cancel button over on the right). That's what I get for being in a hurry I guess.

Anyhow, after 4 days of reading support forums and tons of trial and error, I'm no closer to restoring that profile than when I first started (although I've learned a lot about what does NOT work).

Btw, both my profiles have always been set up as POP3 at Gmail, although if I ever get this current problem sorted out I'll be shopping for a different POP3 provider. But that's another story.

I know how to create a new profile with Profile Manager. And I found the Profiles folders under both Thunderbird folder as well as ThunderbirdOLD folder. Have I been on the right track so far?

In the Thunderbird/Profiles folder, I don't see a folder with the deleted profile name (except the new ones (duds) I've since created ). On the other hand, I don't see the name of the profile that I did NOT delete either, but somehow it seems to be working just fine. Maybe it's the ".default" folder or ".default-release" folder? I've only ever had two profiles and I may have created the non-deleted profile first, so did that one end up being named .default? -shrug- I have no clue.

Anyhow, in the ThunderbirdOLD/Profiles folder, I also see ".default" as well as ".default-release" folders too. But in addition, I'm seeing a ".deletedprofile" named folder. So that's where I originally thought my several dozen email folders with several thousand emails and Address Book etc are hiding. But I've copied all the above mentioned folders into the several new Profiles I've created, on a trial and error basis but so far..... no luck. All I get when I open one is the new set up screen to set up a new pop3 account.... which I can do, but that's just starting from scratch without any of my saved data. I'm running out of ideas.

Where am I going wrong?

Thunderbird on my system is 32-bit on 32-bit Windows and a day or two ago it updated itself to version 115.10.1. Since then it's been slow at sending emails, receiving emails, applying filters and pretty much everything else. Is this being worked on? I saw a couple of similar reports from other people here but like I said, I can't add a reply to them.

And if it's not known about or being worked on, is there some way I can roll back an update?

Hi,

I've used Thunderbird for a long time and not had this issue.

Something must have changed because now every time I click "attach" and browse to a file I want to attach such as a simple jpg or pdf, Thunderbird just crashes and asks if I want to send an error report. This is reproducible 100% of the time.

If I drag and drop the attachment to the composition window, the issue does not occur. It only occurs when using the "attach" button and the browser.

It's Thunderbird 128.1.0esr and I'm on Windows 11 23H2.
