My company has been using the same customized autoconfig.js without issue since last year's FF 115 esr release on our Ubuntu servers.

cat /opt/firefox-115.13.0esr/defaults/pref/autoconfig.js pref("browser.tabs.inTitlebar", 0); pref("general.config.filename", "firefox.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); pref("general.config.sandbox_enabled", false); pref("pdfjs.annotationEditorMode", 1);

Now we are testing the 128 esr next releases with the same config and getting the failed to read the configuration file. please contact your system administrator error

cat /opt/firefox-128.1.0esr/defaults/pref/autoconfig.js pref("browser.tabs.inTitlebar", 0); pref("general.config.filename", "firefox.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); pref("general.config.sandbox_enabled", false); pref("pdfjs.annotationEditorMode", 1);

If remove pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); or set it to 1, the error goes away, but our actual firefox.cfg does not get read and are configs are not present at all.

As noted by others about recently-prior versions of Firefox, version 129 ALSO fails to play videos (on Amazon Prime) at HD even though other browsers, Chrome and Edge as examples, work perfectly well. This problem MAY have started with a fairly recent version of Firefox (like 127 or 128). See the post right here by another user, earlier Firefox version, with the EXACT same problem:

Been an issue for a while now. I try to start a YouTube video, and it spins and spins forever, maybe only loading the first 15 seconds before finally crashing the player. Twitch and other video service websites work perfectly fine. Tried a different browser, again worked perfectly fine. I erased all cookies, relogged in and tried, and it seemed to work for a little while, but then it eventually went right back to the way it was. Tried repeating the process, just deleting all YouTube cookies every time I wanted to watch something, and while it worked occasionally it was very inconsistent and obviously very annoying to have to do. Tried disabling ad and malware blockers, as well as all my other extensions, no dice. Needless to say, I'm stumped. Any clues..?

I use Thunderbird 128.1 with NVDA in Windows 11, and find it annoying having to press Shift+F6 to focus the folder list, and then F6 to go to the message list. Please fix this in a future update so keyboard focus is automatically placed on the message list when the program opens. I've disabled all the extra preview screens and other things that come up when launching Thunderbird, and I'd like to quickly begin navigating messages without the unnecessary keystrokes.

I had some synced bookmarks that I was getting rid of using the bookmarks section. The only bookmarks that showed up there (automatically without any input from me) were the ones I imported from another browser on my desktop. Once I deleted the last one of those, the bookmarks section on my homepage disappeared. When I go to customize homepage in the settings, it is set to active. However, it is not visible. I can't find anything that will force it to point back to my mobile bookmarks.

I have tried toggling the setting off and back on, clearing cache, and force closing app. No results. I am hesitant to try reinstalling or clearing data because the app has no way to export any tabs, history, or bookmarks into another file. I'm afraid if I do this, then log back in, my synced info will be lost.

A couple of websites in Firefox just wont scroll down at all, hence I cannot access all the information or links. zooming out helps partially but not convenient. how can I fix this please? I already turned off and then back on the hardware acceleration option that was offered to someone as a solution. The same site works perfectly fine in Chrome.

Another issue, i tend to notice more frequently in comparison but still very rare is where the whole site is greyed out or no buttons or links work. Possibly because you must click on accept or some button/link that I am unable to see or access despite all efforts. so, you give up!

Please advise. thanks. Regards S

Hi everyone,

I use Firefox as my primary browser for several reasons, but the main one is because it has the best Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature. However, I no longer use Windows and have encountered problems with it on various Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian...). Currently, I'm only using Fedora 40, and the problem persists.

The issue is that when I click on the PiP icon, it activates normally, but when I switch windows or minimize and then maximize Firefox again, the video disappears.

I will attach some screenshots to clarify the issue.

I would like to know if there is any way to resolve this. I’ve already reset the settings, cleared the cache, and tested different installation methods (software store, .tar.bz file, apt, dnf, snap). I’ve tried troubleshooting mode and even installed the Developer Edition, but the problem persists. I’m wondering if this is an issue with the Linux version of Firefox.

Thank you.

Program works fine except it takes over a minute to download email. I think this started a week or so ago after a momentary power outage crashed my computer.

My version says its up to date 32 bit and I'm on the esr update channel.

I deleted a large quantity of expendable emails thinking maybe I needed more space, but that had no effect.

When I start in safe mode (Windows 7) I am able to open Thunderbird. But when I tried to get my mail I get message: "pop.verizon.net connection was refused"

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I'm not very savvy about these things)

Hello, I have two Hotmail accounts on Thunderbird, one @hotmail.com and one @hotmail.es (if that makes any difference). Both working fine since switching from Windows to Linux a week ago. As of this morning, the hotmail.com address can't send emails (it can receive them no problem). The hotmail.es email can send and receive no problem, although it has the same settings.

When I try to send an email I get the error: "login to server smtp-mail.outlook.com with username ...,@hotmail.com failed. " If I click on 'enter new password', it just tries to send the email again without asking for a password, although I don't think that's the issue because I can login via the outlook.com website using that same password.

When I click cancel, I get the error: "Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to outgoing server (SMTP). Please check the password and verify the authentication method in account settings/outgoing server/(SMTP)".

I've checked both POP settings and outgoing server settings and they are the same for both accounts, apart from the email address obviously (pic below). I got these settings from the Microsoft page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-for-outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040

Microsoft support said it's a Thunderbird problem. I've tried disabling my firewall and VPN. Would appreciate any other ideas (in absolute beginner terms if possible). Many thanks for reading.

This isn't a question, its a complaint.

The performance of Firefox with upload speed is TERRIBLE! I have multiple computers, all with Windows OS's and Firefox installed as the main browser. Each of them report back lower than actual upload speed.

Other browsers like Edge, chrome, and a CLI tool on linux all report my actual download/upload speeds.

I have tried the various about:config and profile changes as a work around that I found here and alsewhere, none of them work.
