I have updated to FF version 3 everything exported from FF ver. 2 apart from Norton Identity Safe which holds passwords.

Anyone have the same problem?
Do we know if it works with FF3 cause it worked with FF2?

All help would by appreciated

The program may not be compatible with Firefox 3, which was just released today. It will take while before everyone updates things.

Good luck!

I have exactly the same problem. I will stop using Firefox if this is not corrected, or go back to an earlier version if possible. Not happy at all!

I'm NOT HAPPY that my Firefox automatically updated itself...particularly because my Norton is incompatable!!! Awfully presumptuous of Firefox.

Thanks guys for taking the time.

Janice I have posted on your thread.
I kind of have a run around until Norton can update for FF3.

They should give you option to update and made it easy to roll back if you don't like.

But hey, always the way with new roll outs. Try and stick with it, FF is so much better than IE.

Thanks again
Mike

Same problem here. Overall FF3 seems faster and better than FF2, and as much as I want my Identity Safe functionality back.....I'll wait for Symantec to put out a fix for it — no way am I switching back to IE7. Until then, I'll just go back to the old way of doing it: Open my Whisper32 app and get the id and password manually. :)

I updated FF too and my Identity Safe disappeared. I ran the check/fix utility in Norton and it seemed to spot that FF was without an association. A new FF window appeared and the identity safe toolbar was there. However... on closing the window that was the last I saw of it. No sign since.

My Identity Safe disappeared. Even quick launch does not work. I have to open "manage identity safe profile" off line, write down my log on and password, then go back to the internet. If this version of Firefox has any benefits, I have not found them. Firefox should fix this, not Norton.

Margie, it is a Norton problem, they need to make their products work with the latest version of Firefox. They have already done that with quite a few of their current products.

I'm done with Mozilla, unless THEY can come up with a fix to this Norton "Identity Safe" module. I have Norton Internet Security 2008 and have used Norton products for years. Identify Safe has always worked with Firefox... until now.

The fact that the Firefox 3.0 update is NOT compatible with previously-existing (and VERY popular) security software is weak and pathetic.

The fact that Mozilla staff are now suggesting that this is a Norton problem and not a Firefox problem is arrogant, and frankly, WRONG. Firefox 3.0 is the ONLY browser that is NOT compatible with this Norton product.

So... Either Mozilla provide users with:
(1) a fix to this Firefox 3.0 flaw, or
(2) a way to re-install the previous version of Firefox (that worked fine)...

OR ELSE I'm going back to Microsoft IE after all these years. Plain and simple.

Bottomline... Firefox 3.0 is NOT an improvement. One problem after another... Call a spade a spade....

FWIW, posters here are not mozilla staff. We're all just users, same as you. Some know more than others due to having more experience, but to my knowledge none of us are on the mozilla payroll or empowered to make fixes happen. :) (The green text on some users' names indicates that they've said they're willing to serve as contributors to help solve other users' problems.)

As Quarantine said, Norton has apparently already changed a number of their products to work with new browser technology; to me that seems to indicate even they feel its their job. :)

I have the very same issue with the upgrade from FF and Norton Security-and it looks like there is no real fix on the immediate horizon.
So...
on the one hand, Symantec may not issue a fix (which they should) and FF, moving along at a cheery pace, may continue to put out a very good product that the software makers can't keep up with.

The problemsarise when we allow convenience to infiltrate our boundaries, and complain when faced with a breakdown ...so we (either) use FF with it's many pluses or we go back to IE (which has so many issues it's scary) or a previous version of FF.

- sigh - Looks like the server demons are back again. :( Hopefully it will be resolved soon. :|

Just to jump on an already fast moving band wagon, I too have made the upgrade, I too have lost the ability to use the Norton Product.

I use FF to break from the norm of using anything M/S - alas, until this problem is fixed, I can't see the point in paying for a product I can't use (norton) so, it's off to download IE I must go - and trust me - I blooming hate having to do it.

As a user, I don't care whos issue this is, just somebody somewhere - please, fix it.

sight and re-sight...

Same problem occured to me when upgrating to FF 3.0.1.
Who will be able to give us a solution to keep the Norton Identity Safe pack alive ?
I'm sure it's not a Norton problem.

Many thanks in advance for any kind of solution.

Don't bet on it. Symantec thinks it is, which is why they're involved in looking for a fix.
