vergrendeld Firefox 3.0.3 crashes ALL THE TIME

In a word, Firefox version 3 SUCKS.

Since version 3 was released, each update has gotten worse. What steps did I take? I let Firefox install version 3.0.3. Now Firefox on my work machine quits unexpectedly almost immediately upon starting. My wife started complaining this weekend about Firefox crashing on her XP machine (different computer, entirely different set of software running with the exception of the OS, so it is highly likely that Firefox shares a large part of the blame for whatever the problem is).

Firefox version 3 even sucks on my Linux machine with random slowdowns and extended freezes but at least it doesn't constantly crash (so far).

So for now I am back to version 3.0.2 on XP but if Mozilla doesn't get it's act together, we will be switching to Opera or possibly to Google's browser (once it gets out of beta — say in about a year or so?).

Extensions installed:

My XP computer: Adblock Plus, Control de Scripts, Daily Dilbert, Foxmarks, JSView, NoScript, QuickJava, Sage-Too

The Wife's XP machine: Sage-Too

Plugins installed:

Exact same problem here, I have 2 machines and my wife has a laptop. We cannot run version 3.0.3 on either machines. Vista X 1, XP X 2. All drivers up to date on all 3 machines.

I'm running OS X.4 on a PowerMac G5. Crashes for no reason several times a day since upgrading to 3.0.3.

any solution yet????

Firefox3 keeps freezing up on me also. I have to bring up the task manager if I can to shut down Firefox. Sometimes task manager won't even come up and I have to turn the computer button off.

I was trying to organize bookmarks and cookie requests pop up and cause a freeze.

Total frustration with 3.0 Can we get 2.0 back?

the 3.03 version has not corrected the ' saving or keeping passwords'
it did at first but now it does not. works fine using internet explorer.
I have also had this version freeze up numerous times. "not responding"
the old 3.0 was much better

I agree with every one of you. I almost would much rather not have ever gotten firefox 3. I cant even explain how frustrated I am not being able to do crap while browsing due to crashes. I loved the previous firefoxes but this one is almost making me want to switch

It seems like every other time I start Firefox it's telling me it's crashed. I'm SICK of having to restart firefox, and sometimes it doesn't even start back up and I have to shutdown the Firefox process manually.

Up until the 3.0.3 update, Firefox 3 was running smoothly for me. I've gotten used to the quirks of the new version, but Internet Explorer currently has more stability than this.

Same problem here.
I'm using 3.0.3 on Mac OS X 10.5.5. Trashing the prefs and running mozilla without any extensions or plugins didn't help. Mostly unusable, since it crashes anywhere from within seconds after starting to running for a few minutes at most.

ok I know now I'm not alone...same problem here between XP and firefox...should we go back to internet explorer? :(

Google engineers have been involved in Firefox's development. Now, with Chrome coming for Mac (already avail for PC), maybe they're trying too hard to add features or who knows. Firefox 3.0.3 crashes constantly on my Intel DuoCore iMac. Hard to believe they launched this version update without proper testing first. Going to look at installing an older version of Firefox. Now, more than ever, anxious to get Chrome.

FF3 has been fine and YT a happy user until 3.0.3 - which now crashes on random operations. Considering setting up 3.0.2 again and waiting for the next update.

where to download 3.0.2? i want to downgrade. bad.

Getting tired of 3.0.3 crashing. Problem is the only known info on it seems to be sent to MS through their 'problem solving report system' ?? As soon as you either 'Send' or cancel, the temp file with the info heads into the ether, leaving you scratching your head. Was going to send copy but — thank you Microsoft - gone.
Is Mozilla actually doing something to solve this - even contacting MS for a copy of the crash report - or do we have to revert to 3.0.2 until solved.

Ditto on firefox 3.03. Crashes repeatedly on startup (restoring several dozens of open tabs) as well as during regular browsing. Thanks to bnichols23, I'm going to downgrade to 3.02 now.

3.03 crashes almost immediately after page load for me. Need an update to fix this fast.

Update - downgrading to 3.02 doesn't fix it, you need to (as far as i can tell) downgrade to 3.01. Whatever is causing these crashes was introduced in 3.02

Every time I exit Firefox 3.0.3 it crashes badly. Also when downloading, would be 85% done, then crash.

I have been having frequent crashes since 3.0.2 was installed. I uninstalled all of my add-ons except for Google toolbar and it dramatically reduced the number of crashes. I was only experiencing about 1 every couple of weeks at that point - but even that is unacceptable. Then 3.0.3 was installed and the crashes started all over again. The upgrade offered to also install an updated version of IE View (it's irritating how many sites FF won't run properly without IE) which I did resulting in many crashes. I uninstalled it, and now I'm not experiencing many crashes - probably now at my pre-3.0.3 installation level.

My firefox 3.0.1 keeps automatically updating my pc to firefox 3.0.3. It successfully updates the new version, but the version doesnt work. The program starts, but I can't view any websites at all. I thought it was because I had XP, but it seems Vista is having trouble too. I have been looking online for someone who would know how to fix the problem. Nothing yet. I like FF, but they are going to seriously lose our confidence if this isn't fixed soon.
