This is happening to me too! The bookmarks are lost. Most of the controls of the bar is ineffective.
Also the symptoms you have listed such as lost home page resulting in blank page AND the back button doesn't work -.-

I am having all the same issues: bookmarks gone, controls of the bar do not work, home page doesn't work, back/forward buttons don't work, etc.
Well at least I am not the only one, what is going one ?

Similar problem, installed new HDD w/ XP pro, went to what I thought was my home page and found an almost blank page with just a search box. Any other venues for help than just the forums? No answers here.
Any answers to this? Just started once I downloaded the new version.
Hi all, I have woken up this morning after having had firefox installed for the last week and I now have the same issues! I can't go back. The page is blank when it loads and all my bookmarks are gone! Is there anything that can be done to rectify this?
Mike, Lani, since you guys aren't the original poster on this, I need to ask a question that may help diagnose the problem. Are either of you also running Norton 360? If so, there is a HUGE issue going on with that, that's currently being worked by mozilla & symantec. For more info & steps to take to diagnose (& get a possible workaround), go to this thread here.

Don't have Norton, don't even see a 'back' button. Have to go to 'History' to go back.

I had the same problem and found a solution. Hopefully this may help some of you if your situation resembles mine. My problem was that my firefox browser opened to a blank page, and the navigation buttons were grayed out, and not working. I tried many things, thinking that it may be related to my norton internet security, or with firefox itself. I even uninstalled and reinstalled firefox only to get the same problem. I also tried to restore my computer to an earlier time, and even this did not work. Then I realized that I had added a new connection to the internet a few days ago, so that I would be able to use my cell phone as a modem for internet access---This was done only to see if it was possible, and it is. Anyway, it was the settings in this connection that interfered with my firefox browser. So if you have a situation similar to mine, you may want to go back and check the modem settings you may have for internet access, and undo these changes, or delete the new dial-up connection if you may have created one before these problems arised.
