I have my browser configured to use Times, or to use a site's chosen fonts. But one site out of ten or so seems to use complete gibberish for text. Never happened in Firefox 2.

What changed, and how do I fix it while still allowing sites to use their chosen fonts? Why isn't the "fix" the default?

Try looking for corrupt fonts in Font Book and also at Undoing Font Book (TheXLab).

Good luck!

I removed some corrupt fonts as recommended. It had no effect. I then set the browser prefs to replace web fonts with my own fonts... and it stopped displaying the gibberish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the browser is not properly displaying a web site's chosen font, then it is the browser that is the problem, not my fonts.

This is seriously annoying. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Okay, I fixed the problem. Turns out that I had duplicate fonts. I used Fontbook and 'resolved duplicates', and now I'm back in action. Thanks for the help.

Bo

Thanks for reporting back!

I have been experiencing this issue for ages and it is really a problem for Firefox as I just revert to good old faithful internet explorer each time I come across and incompatible website.

Windows Vista (also experienced on my XP machines)

It might be useful to be able to see the sites I want to without reverting to browsing in IE!
