This is a known problem with Flash, see Flash Player support on 64-bit operating systems.

All versions of Firefox released by Mozilla are 32 bit. So far Mozilla have not released a 64 bit version of Firefox, and there probably won't be one until Firefox 4

This may be the case, i.e. FF being 32-bit, but Flash Player will not install on my 64-bit system and their troubleshooting suggests running a 32-bit version of FF.

It's like being stuck between a rock and a hard spot. I have nowhere else to go, except continue using IE.

Per Sharon: "This may be the case, ...., but Flash Player will not install on my 64-bit system and their troubleshooting suggests running a 32-bit version of FF. "

What the Flash troubleshooting people say notwithstanding, there is no such animal as a NON-32-bit FF, so their advice is to use a 32-bit version is idiotic. Sounds to me like they either don't want to delve into the problem enough to solve it, or else just don't have a clue. Not happy news, I know, but bottom line is that since they obviously don't know jack about FF, they need to stop presuming to blame it for the problem.

If they keep telling you that, ask to have the problem elevated to their next tier, & when you talk to that level, tell them their next lower level people need to stop advising that the "solution" is for you to use something you're already using.

You can run a 32 bit browser in a 64 bit system that will run Flashplayer on your 64 bit system. Go to: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/32bit-browser.html and download the shareware 32 bit browswer. It will download to your desktop and place an icon that looks like "windows internet explorer" Click on that browswer and you can watch media with "Flash" content. Hope this helps

Er, actually 64 bit FF is known as mozilla minefield. granted it a beta, but it's very real and very 64 bit.

Can you please help me understand why almost every time I do something in firefox on my computer it winds up not responding and I have to start the process all over again? My machine is 32 bit windows vista business. Should I be having this problem? Mos tof the media I view on the Internet requires my having firefox. Please help

PLEASE and THANK YOU. GOD BLESS

oh yeah and I sometimes have to keep ending the process through task manager

Per Brad c: "Er, actually 64 bit FF is known as mozilla minefield. granted it a beta, but it's very real and very 64 bit. "

However it's inadvisable for the average user. As Quarantine said above, there *is* no 64-bit release at present. For all real-world purposes, that means exactly what it says. :) I use alphas & betas of several apps, but I don't advertise the fact — from experience too many novices would get their hands on them, screw up their systems due to their own ignorance, & then blame me or the developer.

I came across this fix.
It worked for Firefox 3.0.3 ,I.E. 8 Beta 2, Opera 9.52, and Google Chrome Dev Release: 0.3.154.0.

Here's the scenario: you download the latest and greatest version of the Adobe Flash Player. After it finishes installing, you go to a site featuring Flash content and are greeted with a message notifying you that you need to install Flash Player, but didn't you just do that? To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:

For Vista (32 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9x where x is some letter.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

For Vista (64 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9x where x is some letter.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.

yeah, it will install, i have 64bit and it works fine, it does f*ck up a lot though, youredoinitwrong

Can someone please help me in dummy terms how I can get my windows vista 64 bit system to download a flashplayer.

Also having this problem. Firefox 3.0.7 and Vista 64-bit Ultimate. I must have installed Flash 50 times, with no success. Sites still tell me I don't have it installed.
