I am a network administrator and have been trying to diagnose recent user complaints of site slowdowns from FireFox 3.0.6 users. Nothing appears wrong on the server-side, but client testing has shown what I think is an issue with how FireFox 3.0.6 handles connections. We are seeing very slow http POSTs to our website from Firefox (45secs to over 2mins) for small (9k) forms. However, the problem only happens if you have been viewing the page for over a minute. If you browse quickly through the site the pages load and forms post without issue. However, if you linger on a page for an extended period of time and then subsequently click a new link the next connection FireFox makes to the server is severely delayed. It seems like there is a bug in how FireFox deals with creating a new connection in this scenario after it can no longer reuse an existing connection due to a connection timeout period. The bug results in long, slow form posts and agonizingly slow response times for end-users. Attached is a screenshot of the slow POST trace from HttpFox.

Extensions installed:

HttpFox (added only to diagnose the problem)
FireBug (added only to diagnose the problem)

Thank you!!! at lest now i have some idear whats going on :)

After more testing the issue appears to be specific to IIS 7 (note that is the webserver, not the browser) and FireFox. When testing pages on IIS 6 I cannot reproduce the issue. This may explain why it appears to only affect a small percentage of users.
