Check out the Firefox crashes article for some suggestions, especially the bit about the VLC plugin

Good luck!

Edit: Link should have been to Firefox crashes. Although this isn't about a crash, I think I've seen the VLC plugin and Flash plugin conflict with each other

You can also try the older 9.0r47 version: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3249140#3249140

thanks bo, co-el. I did not see any reference to vlxc plugin on the firefox hangs article but did notice a hang issue reported for hyperthreading, my system might be a bit different, I am using intel core 4 quad Q6600.
Before exploring that a bit further, I will try to downgrade flash first.
However since it all works fine with ie, the problem in my view is with mozilla. would be surprised if a bug in flash interops well with ie. the link to mozilla forums says a lot, might have to switch back to ie after so many years

This is trippy to hear all of you having this ISH. I have just posted an flvplayer on my website page (4 weeks ago), am using IE to view it, if I click through 3 video clips in my XML based playlist IE craps out, I can see my DSL modem still loading the data, 'have to close IE and then re-open, re-surf the page and go right to the thrid clip if that's the one I want to play, but if I get clickable again, thrid clip kills IE. This sounds WAAAY too similar to what everyone is describing with FF to be co-incidence. My first inclination (which has changed since seeing this blog) is XP registry bloat. I ran a scanner and it appears I have about 1008 empty clsids keys in my registry, so I am going to start there. Then do the exhaustive stuff, un-install flash CS3, un-install flash player 9, which you got to go to adobe and get the un-installer (adobe issuing an un-installer? what's the world coming to?), repaor IE or un-install it altogether, un-install the hair on my dome, smoke copiously. BUT I will persevere, like we all shall. Cheers mates we'll figure it out. I'll keep you posted. -CB/FSZ

Is this ever going to be fixed? I had the problem and "fixed" it with the workaround of installing an old version of Adobe's Flash player. That worked great for a month or two until today when I encountered a video that required the latest version. I agreed to the download under the believe that this long overdue fix was certainly fixed by now. The video played fine. Then a few hours later I went to try a YouTube video and the same old bug happened! 1 second of playback followed by frozen video.

I know this is free, but what's the deal with Firefox adopting the Microsoft model of software? Something's fundamentally broken and no one seems to care about fixing it. Is the buck being passed off to Adobe here? If so, why aren't the people behind Firefox raising hell about this?

Fix this bug ASAP. The entire reason I switched from IE to Firefox was to avoid Microsoft shoddy software development ideology and here I am witnessing Firefox engage in the same nonsense. FIX IT ALREADY.

Bo

This forum is just for support, not bug-fix requests. It's evidently a problem with the Adobe plugin, but the fix is not immediately apparent.

I don't think I've seen anyone complain of the problem in the 9.0r124 version of Flash, which is out now (but I could be wrong).

If you're having a problem, please start a new thread. Thanks, and good luck...

Installing the 9.0r124 version of Flash seems to solve the problem.

Same problem as menitoned in the first post. (FF 2.0.0.14, Flash plugin 9.0r124) After an uninstall/reinstall of the flash plugin it works for a while, but after some time it breaks again.

I've been having this problem for some time now also..
Downgraded flash.. worked ok for a bit but then the problem returned,
flash videos play for a second then stops, although it keeps buffering till fully loaded,
but will not play the content..
Really need a fix to this.. dont want to go back to ie :(
Thanx
R.

Asidhowz,, could you please start a new thread for your problem? See Troubleshooting extensions and themes in the meantime.

I have the exact same problem for a few months now. I have Flash 9.0.124 and Firefox 2.0.0.14.
A couple of Flash vids will play fine, but at the 4th or 5th video it always stops after 2 to 3 secs, while it keeps loading data. Also suddenly there is no audio anymore from the vids. Restarting Firefox "solves" both problems, at least for the next few movies.

Hi, replying to myself:

As has been suggested above and elsewhere, downgrading Flash will fix this problem!
Steps to take:

1. Download the Flash uninstaller
-> http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157

2. Download the Flash 9 archive (99 MB)
-> http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14266

3. Close all browsers

4. Run the Flash uninstaller

5. From the archive, install "Flash 9r47" for your your OS.

Make sure you don't upgrade Flash when it asks at some point.
Unless there are security problems in the old version... which is a dilemma we will both have to face.
