locked Firefox 3.5 won't start

After installing Firefox 3.5 and running it, the firefox.exe process starts up but seems to hang after a couple seconds. The Firefox window does not come up, I do not get any error message, and I see the process running in Task Manager but nothing is actually happening. I have tried starting in Safe Mode, creating a new profile, uninstall/reinstall, restarting my computer, but nothing seems to help.

I have the same issue with Linux. I renamed my .mozilla directory to start anew. strace shows it blocking in a FUTEX call.

I have an issue with starting FireFox 3.5. I am running it on Windows 2003 Server Standard w/SP2. Firefox process starts but i do not see Firefox window come up. Tried to completely remove firefox from the system and did fresh install. Same thing.

Runnin on Dell Precision 450
Dual Intel Xeon 2GHz
with 1GB ram

Any Suggestions?

I was getting this same problem, but was able to get it to open by first killing the running firefox process, then starting it up in safe mode and checking for updated plugins. After that, I closed the window and tried opening it normally again, and it worked that time.

It won't even open in safe mode for me. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as creating a new profile, but whenever I click on the icon to open it (including safe mode from the system tray), it appears in the processes list, but will not open at all.

My new 3.5 won't open. It's listed in the Task manager and running the CPU to 100%.

Please help.

Same issue. Oddly, it only happens on my user account, but not the others. It does seem to load eventually after about a minute or so, which is an improvement on what it was doing. However, on the other user-accounts there is not a major increase in loading time from before the update. I have disabled all addons and plugins, and am using the default theme. Firefox seems to work fine on my XP machine and my Home Premium laptop.

Problem is on the Dell Dimension running Vista Home Basic.

I have similar problem. It will start after reboot a few times. Then nothing. Don't have time for this crap.

Just upgraded to 3.5 and I am getting this message:
Problem loading page,"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at en-us.start3.mozilla.com."

Same situation here. Very annoyed as all of my bookmarks are in Firefox and I have no listing of them in IE.

What gives? Was using Firefox fine before the download. Downloaded it and the window will not open at all.

I have the same problem. This 3.5 is not ready for use, I think. Go back to 3.011 which seems now to be called 3.02 (suggesting Mozilla was ready for this).

Similar issue. On my machine it takes around 8 minutes to start 3.5 after every reboot. And what's strange it happens only on one limited user account. Created another one to test and it works fine with that account. Tried deleting all traces of firefox and installing again, but it didn't help. Probably gonna have to move all my staff to another user account, just asking here maybe somebody has an alternative solution.

Firefox 3.5 won't start on a fresh install of Windows 2000 with all updates, drivers and patches installed. (w/ AVG 8.5 and Spybot 1.6.2)

Auto-update type install -and- manual download then manual install of Firefox 3.5 give the same result.
Uninstalling v3.0.11 first and rebooting or installing 'over' the old version give the same results.

Monitoring 'Processes' in Task Manager when trying to start Firefox 3.5 after the install shows "firefox.exe" load for an instant but it immediately disappears.

Only solution is to uninstall v3.5 and reinstall v3.0.11.
(Which is still a dog. I was hoping Firefox finally got fixed but it seems it's even more broken than before).
