Since I upgraded to Firefox 3 on OSX, I have a toolbar above the Navigation Toolbar that is completely empty EXCEPT for a spinning pinwheel whenever a browsing action is initiated. I can move tollbar buttons into this empty space, and then deselect the Navigation Toolbar, but this seems like a problem! Is there a known solution to this?

Extensions installed:

dragdropupload 1.6.7
Footiefox 2.1.1
Forecastfox 0.9.7.6
Greasemoney 0.9.20080609.0
LInkedIn Companion for Firefox 3.1.1
User Agent Switcher 0.6.11

I'm not sure what the problem is. Can you not hide this toolbar via View, Toolbars?

No I can't. The only choices in View/Toolbars are "Navigation Toolbar" and "Bookmarks Toolbar". Selecting either doesn't eliminate the empty gray bar shown in the screenshot.

If you attached a screenshot then it didn't come through.
You need to use a compressed image format like png or jpg, otherwise the file size gets too big.

Do you mean the menu bar or do you have another toolbar between the menu bar and the navigation toolbar?

I figured it out. The Activity Indicator was occupying the top-most toolbar space, making it appear empty except when some browsing activity was executed. Moving the Activity Indicator into the regular Navigation Toolbar eliminated the apparently empty space.

I've no idea why the Activity Indicator ended up in that higher toolbar after the upgrade. Certainly it wasn't there when I was using Firefox 2!

I did attach a picture in JPG, at 108kb. I'll try again now.

Hi All,

do anybody know how to switch the Navigation Toolbar to simply show URL's without any details, captions, just URL's only as was in older versions of Firefox. I don't like these annoying "inteligent" features. I want to see the simple list with URL's only.

Regards, Jiri

Count me in as one who wants just plain URLs again. The new "Smart Location Bar" results are far too busy to allow quick scanning.

I haven't found any preferences to reset back to URLs only. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for any fix that does.
