solution proposed "Permanently store this exception" seems to be temporary

Every day when I try to access my employers HTTPS intranet web site to fill in my timecard, I get an error screen saying the security certificate cannot be verified. I click on the "Add an exception" button, then the "Get Certificate" button, then make sure the "Permanently store this exception" is checked and I click "Confirm Security Exception". I expected this to be a 1 time thing, but I've been having to add the
"Permanent" exception every day for about 4 months now. How do I get this to really be "Permanent"???

Extensions installed:

none that I am aware of.

Plugins installed:

If that server generates a new certificate with every visit or every day then there is not much that you can do about it.
You can ask the IT department if there is a root certificate that you can install to make Firefox recognize the issuer of that certificate.
If you need to add an exception every day then it is probably not useful to install the certificate permanently.

You can check the installed certificates in the Certificate Manager and remove the previous certificates from that server:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption: Certificates > View Certificates

When I viewed the certificate(s) that are stored, there is only one stored and it was last modified in April (3 months ago) so it is not a matter of the server getting a new certificate each day, but rather one of Firefox not using the stored certificate and requiring it to be re-stored before it can be used.

Did you try to remove that certificate to see if that makes Firefox store the new certificate?

If it is your only certificate then try to Rename (or delete) secmod.db and cert8.db in the Profile Folder.
The file cert8.db stores your user certificates, so if you have user certificates then you may want to export them now and import them after having removed cert8.db.

I have the same exact issue. Still no resolution.

Same problem with https://www2.kproxy.com

Really, people stop denying the problem. Can't we even get a completely dishonest "works for me". It's a huge bug in Firefox. It doesn't store SSL certificate exceptions, even though there's that friendly checkbox (checked by default) to "permantly store this exception".

My Firefox version is 3.0.13 by the way.

There's even a plugin for 3.5 that attempts to workaround this problem, but it's a bad hack, and a danger for less-savvy users.

This same issue exists in Firefox 3.5.3

SAME PROBLEM HERE

I'll downgrade
