I would like to know how I can disable the 'most visited bookmark folder' in FF3.I just can't take the guilt of having all the durdy little websites I visit staring me in the face the rest of the day. I have tried a few about:config hacks to no avail, and have set my history value to 0 but still i have to be reminded of what a perv I am. Your help would be much appreciated

I just right mouse clicked on it and selected DELETE .. Now I want it back and don't know how.

enter "about:config" (without quotes) into the firefox location bar, search for the preference called "browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion", doubleclick it & set its value to "0"... afterwards restart firefox

To get rid of the most visited bookmarks folder, just delete it by right clicking on it and selecting "delete" or using the Organise Bookmarks window.

To re-enable:

Go to about:config and change the preference "browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion" to "0".

Restart Firefox and the Most Visited folder should reappear.

The links in the Most visited will not go away.

try this
go to organize bookmarks and delete the links in most visited.
close and again go back to most visited folder you will see links again( some old ones) keep on dong it you will see links that you had visited long time back.

delete the most visited folder
browse

then restore most visited using in about:config
"browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion" to "0".

you will see the most visited links again.

i did not know this kind of tracking programs were there in firefox,
this is gross invasion of User privacy.

how do we completely and permanently remove the feature.

Sorry guys, but none of this was of any use to me.

I use FF 3.0 and was annoyed with the nine thumbnails that slow down my system each time I open a new tab.

This article helped me eventually.

* Go to about:config
* Find google.toolbar.newTab
* Set it to "False" by simply double-clicking the row.
* Close the about:config tab. There's no need to restart Firefox.
* Send Claus a thank you card. :)
