I was thinking about how SUMO Day would work on the forums. I had some time to kill on campus earlier, so I wrote a little guide for contributing to the forums: http://bo.idiofx.com/sumoDay.html

Hope you can use it (no sweat if not, but I think there should be something similar somewhere someday, maybe expanding Providing forum support)? Let me know if something should change. I tried to follow the personal tone used in Majken Conor's newsgroup post.

That'd be a good thing to point users to. Really, you don't need to know much to start giving forum support, but you can be a lot more effective if you learn a few things.

Maybe all we need to do for sumo day is step back and let new contributors handle the forum threads. If they see that everything's been answered, then they might not think we want their help.

Threads with no replies is part of the "things to look for" in the document. I don't really want to limit it to a certain number of pages. Really, a day is about 6 pages so even if they go back 20 pages it's still useful.

If you guys can lay off on the uber-answering a bit for today to give the new people a chance to answer some, that'd be good.

If you guys want to hang out on #sumo too and help anyone that needs it, that'd be great. I can't be around all day.
