Is it planned to set up a version of firefox 3 for Windows 98? The current installer and the systemsettings mention at least that I should use minimum windows 2000.
Firefox 3 does not work on Windows 98. This is because it requires some operating system features that are not present in Windows 9x

Sorry to say but the system requirements only work for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Firefox 3 is not a complet version of a professional software. Opera 9.5 version support W95..!! and mobile dispositives.... K.O. for firefox.... poor quality.... try again mozilla..!
And Opera has how much of the browser market, a tiny fraction, more so if they had not gone free versus adware free as before. Are you aware of why Firefox 3.0 cannot work on Win9x ?

I was very disappointed by the fact that Firefox 3 is not suited for Win98 machines. It happens not very often, but still I have to use my old good PC that has Pentium-MMX 200MHz and 168MB RAM onboard sometimes. What I want to do is viewing certain modern sites, uploading files via FTP and editing DB's via PHPMyAdmin. While first two things can be done in Firefox 2, PHPMyAdmin pages load too slowly, and if I have enough patience to wait until they load, I just can't work, as Firefox 2 slows the PC dramatically! What's more, it takes a few hours from Firefox 2 to work to make me restart the PC by pressing Reset button, because Windows slows down so much that I can't quit Firefox or restart thy system from Windows. I was sure that this is PC-specifications-only dependent until I tried to install Opera 9.51 onto this machine. It work so many times faster than Firefox 2 that I just couldn't believe my eyes for a few minutes. Yes, it doesn't work as fast as it could work on a modern PC, but it works fast enough to make me to be able to browse the Web and to edit database in PHPMyAdmin! I'm sure that there are very few machines as old as this one, that are still used for working with internet, but still I would like to have choice between Firefox 3 and Opera 9.51. Now i choose Opera 9.51, because Firefox 2 is incapable to compete with it.
P.S. Thanks for Firefox 3! It is really faster than Opera 9.51 when working with a site on local server on modern PC with XP installed.
Actually i have gotten firefox 3 to run in win98 with a few bugs. I did not even intend to. Goto PortableApps.com and download firefox 3, and install. Set directory for your hard disk. After you have done this, open firefox 3 directly from the data folder. Runs ok, few problems in how 98 renders windows, but im postin this in firefox on win 98 right now.
Sorry But some guy did make it to run Firefox3 on windows 98 installing as on wxp, he download some comoponet called kernel (more or less) and has a screenshot of firefox on that old system.
