Mozilla is not planning any further security and stability updates for Firefox 2, and recommends that you upgrade to Firefox 3 as soon as possible. It's free, and your settings and bookmarks will be preserved.
Also, the Phishing Protection service will no longer be available for Firefox 2 users. Firefox 3 offers a free Phishing and Malware Protection service, which will continue to protect you from online scams and attacks.

Firefox forgets where you were on previously viewed pages
This article describes what steps to take if your scroll position is not remembered when you go back or forward.
Caching
Certain websites tell Firefox that they should not be cached (saved temporarily). When sites do this, Firefox is unable to remember your scroll position.
In addition, there may be third-party Firefox extensions that can help you. Go to addons.mozilla.org to search for and install extensions for Firefox.
For more information about add-ons, read Customizing Firefox with add-ons.
