That is standard in Firefox 4. The way that Firefox 4 stores files in the cache has changed with Firefox 4, files in the cache are spread over those 16 folders.

Thank You!!
Hello. The dispersion of simple files in the 16 new folders of cache makes it very difficult to obtain simple files that were uploaded. And each of these 16 folder are also subdivided.
It is reason enough to use older versions of FF or another browser, unfortunately.
All of the rest of new changes seems very good.
You can try CacheViewer Version 0.7b
Unfortunately version 0.7b does not appear to be compatible with the official release of Firefox 4.0 . I hope we will get a compatible version soon. I promise to contribute to the developer!

After a day of browsing the web, and trying to get some work done, I found 437 sub-folders involved in the cache folder. WHAT THE HOCKEY PUCK????
DID someone forget the KISS principal, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!
This is just plain silly, I can not fathom a valid sane reason for this malarky. CAN this be TURNED OFF??? Sure seems like WAY to much disk activity, this amount of overhead unneeded drive activity is a real turn OFF, I think I will explore alternative browser choices.
Even worst FF 4 does not store videos and .swf files in cache. When you watch a video or play a game and leave the page and want to see the video or play the game again you must wait for it to download again. It is not saved in any of the cache folders. What is going on with Mozilla and Firefox. Have they bowed down to the big boys with this new browsers.
SWF files are either saved in the disk cache or in the memory cache. FLV files are usually never saved to disk, but may be kept temporarily in the memory cache until you close the player.
You can check the cache contents via the about:cache page, you can open such about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.
Hi, FF4 doesn't seem to cache all SWF files, like 3.6 used to. For instance, check it out for yourself on this 6.7 MB file... http://pantheondev.dyndns.org/dummy.swf No matter how many times you view the SWF file, it always loads from the server and you can never find it in about:cache... at least that's what's happening to my PC running win XP and FF4.0.1 with no caching settings changed...

I completely disagree. All *significant* files in 3.6 and most earlier firefox versions were saved in the firefox profile cache, including SWF and FLV files. From memory: up until version 4beta4 this was also true. From version 4beta5 thru to final release of Firefox 4.0 and now version 4.0.1 as of this writing the larger FLV files are no longer keep in the firefox profile cache.
Although bringing up "Help > About" states "We believe that the Internet should be open, public, and accessible to everyone without any restrictions." big brother mozilla has decided (or been forced) to remove support of saving FLV files, and the like for the sake of piracy.
If the current window containing the FLV is kept open a 'cached' copy of the FLV file will reside in your %TEMP% folder. Under Windows this file will be locked to access -- most probably a Mutex locking mechanism via Adobe plugin. With ingenuity you can discover a means to unlock this file, as I have found -- but that is outside the scope of my reply.
So as big brother has decided we are not to easily be able to access FLV files in our profile cache -- clearly in an attempt to make it as difficult as possible to harvest youtube videos and mp3 files --- then your only other means to gain access to FLV cached images is to forget about Firefox and use another browser. Google Chrome, as of version 11.0.696.65 which I currently use on an as-need basis, supports the caching of FLV files to its profile cache folder.
Regards any plugin which claims it can access the "cache" ... clearly if the files are NOT in the cache then these plugins are of no use.
I will be bold enough to predict that from version 4.0.n through all future versions, Firefox will no longer save cached images of FLV files to your profile cache folder.
Good luck ... and may your FLV files go with you :-)
