This is driving me crazy! Firefox is super slow on my Intel MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard 10.6.1. A website I visit regularly, http://paranormaldailynews.com takes forever to load on 3.5.5 but only a second to load using Safari. This has been going on for the past few updates, but now I'm getting to the point that I can't take it any longer.

I am glad it isn't just me! My ISP treated me like I'm crazy when I rang them. Hope someone comes up with a solution...

Scrolling by click above or below the slider takes several seconds often before having an effect, e.g.

same here, with winxp sp3

Same problem here. But mine runs fine when I restart. then after about 20min it jerks when scrolling and fullscreen flash video is sluggish. BTW everything worked fine when using 3.5.4. This started when I upgraded yesterday. I also updated adblocker. But uninstalled it to try to diagnose the problem. No joy. IE8 works fine. no lag.

I agree about the slowness - opening/closing the program takes too long.......loading pages takes too long.

You used to have a very good browser, now it's crap. What gives? Change just for the sake of change?

If you don't do something about this QUICKLY I'm going to use Safari. And I won't be the only one either.

Get your act together!!!

3.5.5 is really slow, especially on Flash video. Also crashes A LOT!!!

Firefox 3.5.5 keeps accessing the harddrive for unclear reasons (OS-X Snow Leopard 10.6.1). Safari is a lot quicker, snappier. But currently I just prefer the latest build of Chrome OS-X.

For now I'll only use Firefox when I need FireBug - I don't really like the Safari counterpart here.

Happened at install of 3.5.5. Now using Chrome which opens and responds in a flash. Even this comment box loads slowly.

Ever since I updated to 3.5.5, the loading of pages is very slow, very often the browser just hangs there and won't allow me to switch tabs or between windows. Its very frustrating.
I have a few add ons installed, however there was never any problem with the previous version of Firefox.

What is the story????

I see the same slow page loading problem with 3.5.5. Also saw it on 3.5.4. Seemed fine on previous versions. It is getting quite frustrating. Response on IE8 is fine...only go to IE8 to check if problem is associated with Firefox 3.3.3.

Same problem after download

Even IE is faster now!

All these problems come from latest versions of Flash and Shockwave.

Try uninstalling them (all versions : e.g IE, FF, etc.) and see if that helps.

If yes, then more people should asking for a fix from Adobe. This problem has been recurrent on many computers for a few months.

It helped in my case now the CPU usage is not high anymore (barely 5% at peaks)

Just make sure you uninstall BOTH Shockwave and Flash, because uninstalling only Flash won't do anything if you have another version of it left or Shockwave.

Also on a side note : Disabling flash through the browsers won't help, since the problem is within the pugins themselves somewhere at the system level, so plugins like Flashblock are useless in this case.

Don't forget to RESTART after you uninstall flash and shockwave

Same problem on Windows 7. Was working great and now even typing is slow!!!

THis SUCKS

3.5.5 is dog-slow on Mandriva as well.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with problems with this new version of Firefox. Is Safari for Windows Vista or for Mac? I will have to change if this nonsense continues. I want the old Firefox back that also let me download You Tube videos to Real Player.
