The Adobe Reader is a free program that enables the review and printing of PDF documents. Adobe Reader is published by Adobe Systems.
This article provides resources for setting up the free Adobe Reader. When Adobe Reader is installed on your computer, you can review PDF documents directly through the web browser.
If you are unsure of whether your browser can download and review PDF files, you can download the Adobe Reader User Guide PDF, which is in PDF format. If you can see the contents of the file, then you can review PDF files.
To acquire the latest version of Adobe Reader, please visit the Adobe.com web site.
The latest versions of Adobe Reader do not support viewing PDF files within Firefox on Mac OS X. If you are running OS X on a computer with a PowerPC processer, or if you are willing to run Firefox under Rosetta, then installing the Schubert|it PDF Browser Plugin will enable you to view PDF files within Firefox on OS X. There is currently no native plugin for modern Macintosh computers.
The Adobe support site has instructions for uninstalling Adobe Reader:
If you are unable to view PDFs in the Firefox window, see Opening PDF files within Firefox for troubleshooting instructions.
In Windows and Mac, you can set Adobe Reader not to open PDF files within Firefox.
