Update the add-on
A new version of the add-on may have been released that is compatible with your version of Firefox. To check for updates, do the following:
- Open the Tools menu and select Add-ons to open Add-ons window.
- Select the Extensions panel.
- Click the button. Firefox will check for updates on all your extensions
- If an update is found, click the button.
- Click to use the updated extensions.
Search for updates or fixes from the add-on developer
Some add-on developers have different versions of their add-on for different Firefox versions so automatic updating does not work.
- In the Add-ons window, right-clickhold down the Ctrl key while you click on the incompatible extension, and select Visit Home Page. You will be taken to the home page for that add-on.
- Download the latest version of the add-on from the home page for that add-on.
Search for alternatives
Similar behavior or functionality may be provided by another add-on which is compatible with your version of Firefox. The Add-ons site is a good place to start searching for similar or alternative extensions.
Specific add-ons
The following add-ons are known to be incompatible with Firefox 3.5 and have more information available. For a more comprehensive list of incompatible extensions, see this list on the Mozilla wiki.
Norton IPS toolbar
Symantec has released a hotfix to patch their Norton Firefox toolbars to be compatible with Firefox 3.5. It will ship as part of a future Norton update but you can download and manually apply it by following the steps on this Norton support page.
Note: The updated toolbar conflicts with the Roboform extension and causes Firefox to crash on certain pages.
PasswordBank
You can download a version of the UPEK Password Bank Plugin that is compatible with Firefox 3.5 from the developer's site.
Some video downloading extensions
Video DownloadHelper is compatible with Firefox 3.5 and provides an alternative to incompatible video downloading extensions.
