This is a generic crash signature that often indicates a crash in third-party software such as plugins or monitoring software. The most common causes are Windows Media Player Plugin, Adobe Flash Plugin, and NOD32 Antivirus. Updating those programs may help.

Identifying the software causing the crash

To identify which piece of software is causing your crash, you can look for more details inside the crash report.

Look for the first line in under Crashing Thread that is not in ntdll.dll. This will likely identify the third-party software that triggers the crash. Some examples are:

  • quartz.dll (used by Windows Media Player plugin)
  • NPSWF32.dll (Adobe Flash)
  • imon.dll (NOD32 Antivirus)

Once you have identified the software at fault, try updating it, or disabling it.
