Toolbars and page content appear too large after upgrading to Firefox 3

If you find that after upgrading to Firefox 3, your toolbars, menu text, and page content are much larger than they should be, follow the instructions in this article.

If your Firefox window's text toolbars, menu text, and page content are normal size, but the window is too large, see the Changes to toolbars and window sizes are not saved article.

To restore Firefox to a normal size:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
    A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
  2. Type layout.css.dpi into the Filter.
  3. If the layout.css.dpi preference is shown:
    1. Double-click on it to edit it.
    2. Enter a value of 96 and press OK.

If the layout.css.dpi preference is not shown

  1. Right-clickHold down the Ctrl key while you click anywhere in the grid, select New, then select Integer from the context menu.
  2. In the Enter the preference name prompt, type layout.css.dpi and click OK.
  3. Next enter the value 96.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the Firefox menu Fx89menuButton and select Exit.Click the Firefox menu at the top of the screen and select Quit Firefox.Click the Firefox menu Fx89menuButton and select Quit.

Firefox will be sized normally after you restart it.
