each time I try to install Zotero (including from the Firefox plugins site) I get an error message that reads: "Zotero could not be installed because firefox cannot modify the needed file". Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I am trying to install Zotero and have tried every approach suggestedin the "installation troubleshooting guide" on the Zotero website. Each time, no matter how I try to install the add on, I get an error message that says "Zotero could not be installed because firefox cannot modify the needed file." Is there any way to fix this? What does the error mean?
