This isn't a problem with some pages, it is a display problem with all pages -- the display of boxes, buttons, etc is either absent or wrong-sized, or inactive, if a box can be seen; in some cases where I recognize the prompting text seen in windows and boxes I can check on the unboxed/unwindowed text and enter something;

Other pages, lile the Weather Channel, www.weather.com cannot be used, even if I choose "NO View" instead of the 'basic' choice. I simply can't use TWC in Firefox 5.0.1 or 6 beta; initially I got alerts when these versions were opening that certain java or java-script add-ons were incompatible with FF 5x or 6X ?

Firefox 4x has disappeared, even from the archives, but I am able to run a version of Firefox 3, it is 3.6.18 I believe, which has complete and correct displays, but with which there are other concerns, e.g. security and privacy?

Since I don't have any screen captures, or image, just look at any correctly displayed page on your computer, and imagine the lines defining boxes and buttons gone, but with the text still there -- that is what I see using there two versions.

BTW - this is the first time the Bing background images have not displaye: could this be due to the Adobe security update for Flash Player 10.3.138.5 which contains the hidden google toolbar malware or the McAfee security Plus malware that cannot be extracted of kept from installing?

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Windows Accessibility settings.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Thank you, working backward, 1. Use the default theme, just like to keep things plain, and don't use extra toolbars, like Google, etc. for same reason; 2. Tried starting in safe mode when the problem first came up with no effect, and 3. Then tried starting in safe mode and re-enabling extension, add-ons, and plug-ins one by one without effect; 4. Don't use Adblock to block flash or java (think AdBlock or the Plus is incompatible with Firefox 5, no? Don't use "No script" or "Flash Block" 5. Have not selected for high visibility (in accessibility) or opted to override the settings for individual pages; haven't even changed the default fonts or sizes, etc. 6. Received notice Firefox 6 release version is now available - will see if this solves any problems. 7. Thanks for the thought and time behind the suggestions, maybe it is something obvious and I am standing too close to see it -- will step back and just let the problem percolate in my human metabiocomputer background processing. thanks,

I am having this problem, too! It just seemed to start spontaneously two days ago (I hadn't updated anything, unless something automatically updated during the night). When I look at your attached pics, it is exactly what I am seeing (I just had a hard time describing it). I subsequently upgraded from 5 to 6, hoping that it might rectify the problem, but it didn't. This actually did work for me! I just tried it, and after I cleared the cache, and the cookies, the sites are displaying correctly! I'm amazed! (I think my cache was full...)

I have the exact same problems! Pictures does not always load and this problem begun in 5.0.1

I have tried clearing all my cookies and also started up in safe mode. Still the same problems! Look at my screenshot and you will see what i mean. You can see only the outline of some pictures, f.ex the tables in the restaurant. Its very frustrating! There is something very wrong in the firefox graphics engine!

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

I am having this problem too. Just like WinOnBatch the problem started for me around firefox 5.0.1. I have not been able to get rid of this problem. I have tried creating a new profile, restarting firefox in safe mode. disabling extensions 1 by 1. When I built this computer I did a clean install of firefox 5.0.1, and 2 weeks later with no extensions the problems came back. At that point I had the Java and flash plugins only. When firefox 6 was released I did another fresh install (uninstalled firefox, went through my hard disc and deleted any reference to firefox and mozilla. Did the same in the registry, then run a registry cleaner and restarted the computer) before I installed firefox 6 and the problem was happening in less than a week. The I said to hell with it and re-created my entire profile from scratch and installed all my old extensions (updated them off course). 2 weeks ago it got really sever and I couldn't see any buttons on the chome interface and all web pages I visited were displaying really messed up. The only way i can describe it is kinda like greentech70 screenshots but on every inch of the application window. Like a really bad screen tearing effect. The only thing that seem to help is when I downgraded to firefox 3.6.18. That fixed it but like greentech70 I have security and privacy concerns, so upgraded to firefox 6 again as the issue went away for 1 day, then came back but not as severe. since then I have been downgrading to firefox 3.6.18 re-installing java and flash, then upgrading back to firefox 6. It keeps the problem minimised but im still plagued by it. I also wonder if its a problem with firefox's 6 graphical engine.

@toxi - Try Disabling Hardware Acceleration

• click Firefox button and click Options (Tools Menu -> Options) -> Advanced panel -> General tab -> Remove Checkmark from Use Hardware Acceleration when available -> click OK -> Restart Firefox

Thx for the reply mha007 and sorry i took so long to reply. I tried disabling hardware acceleration but it didn't help. Even if it did I wouldn't call that a solution. Disabling hardware acceleration on a fairly decent gaming system is crazy. I'm running an Intel Core i7 950, ASUS GeForce GTX 570 DirectCU II 1280MB and have 6 GBs of ram. I didn't invest in this system to disable hardware acceleration. As for Java and Flash I'm already running the latest versions for firefox: Java se6 u27 Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.7 and I never install toolbars or any software I never inexplicably seek out myself. I don't use Mcafee or Google Chrome I use Avira and Firefox although if this problem keeps up I'll be switching to another browser although I have been using Firefox for about 8 years now and don't want to switch. And what is this about I'm reading in Firefox threads about flash secretly installing toolbars? I haven't seen any but this in not good news. :(

Flash is not secretly installing toolbars & other softwares. When you go to Flash website ( http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ ) to download Flash Player, you will see that sometimes there is a choice to download Optional softwares alongwith Flash Player. Its upto the users if they want to keep or remove the checkmark to download Optional softwares.

Yes, I have been offered chrome and mcafee with flash install but never install them. If I wanted them I would go to mcafee's or googles web sites and d/l from there.

I followed that link and it looks like the basic stuff you follow when you run into problems. Stuff I have been doing every few months since firefox 5. Although the stuff about re-initializing the plugins database I didn't know about. I did the re-initializing and it appears as if firefox is running slightly faster. But I don't know how I'm supposed to test it though as firefox give me the problem the threads about when it wants. I can't reproduce it by going to any particular site. Some time soon though - maby today, maby tomorrow, maby next week it will do it again, then I will have to downgrade to firefox 3, then upgrade to firefox 6 again and re-install flash and java. I havn't had the problem for about 2 weeks but my wife who uses this same computer and same copy of firefox has said she has had the problem about 5 times in the last 2 weeks. She always browses the same places and I know its not the sites she is visiting. I'm positive it has something to do with the firefox rendering engine. But I don't know what.
