Loading Yahoo causes my broadband to switch off (or so it seems!)

When I try to load Yahoo (and some other sites) I lose my connection to my broadband. I have a wireless set-up, and on my desktop I am running Firefox 4.0.1, but I only just upgraded to this from Firefox 3.6.16 where the same problem existed for the last 2 weeks only. I upgraded because of this problem!

When I try to load Yahoo via uk.yahoo.com, the page doesn't load and I get a message saying that my wireless router cannot connect to the internet as the connnection between my router and my ISP is broken. BUT, at the same time, on my laptop, using IE.8, I can access the internet perfectly well, with no reported error, and with no break in service, and I can access Yahoo. I can also connect to the Internet with my iPod at the same time without any problem via the same wireless router.

On my desktop I run 'troubleshoot wireless connection' and (eventually) the connection is restored. This takes about 2 minutes. Throughout this 2 minutes, my laptop and iPod both continue to work fine, without any loss of service via the same wireless router that my desktop uses.

I infer that the problem is with Firefox. I have cleared my cache, deleted all temporary files, checked my cookie settings (I have 3rd party cookies blocked as I always have) and I have run several utlilites to cleanup, including SpyBot and a Registry cleaner

And yet, every time I try to visit Yahoo (on my desktop) I get the same problem.

Any ideas?

Running: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.2 GHz with 3-GB ram on 64-bit
