Firefox 3.6 allowed me to use the address bar as a more clever way of browsing. I am not sure why this feature was removed but it used google to figure out from my keywords what website I meant.

e.g gamespot uk would bring up google.co.uk

speedtest bbmax would bring up speedtest.bbmax.co.uk

If anybody knows how to fix this it would be great otherwise I may jut downgrade.

Firefox 3.6 uses the Google "browse by name" feature, you can set Firefox 4 to use this feature by changing a preference.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference keyword.enabled and make sure it is set to true, if it is not you can double-click on it to change its value.
  4. Locate the preference keyword.URL, double-click on it and change its value to the link show below
