Upgrading to Firefox 3·5

Firefox 3.5 is the latest version of Mozilla Firefox which was released on June 30th 2009 PDT.

The new version focuses on speed and keeping your data secure and private. New features include:

  • Private Browsing Mode, which allows you to browse the Internet without Firefox retaining any data about which sites and pages you have visited.
  • Forget About This Site, which allows you to delete all traces of a specific website from your history.
  • Clear Recent History, which allows you to clear all traces of data in your history from the previous hour, two hours, four hours, or everything from that day.
  • Recently closed windows, which allows you to re-open a window you may have accidentally closed.

Upgrading from Firefox 3.0.x

Linux:

To upgrade Firefox in place on Linux, you will need wait for your distribution's package manager to repackage and offer the upgrade.

If your copy of Firefox is from Mozilla instead of the package managerTo upgrade from Firefox 3.0.x, you need to be using the latest update to Firefox 3.0.x.

  1. Open the Help menu and click Check for Updates... to be taken through the Firefox Update process.
  2. Once you are upgraded to the latest update to Firefox 3.0.x, use Help > Check for Updates... again, to update to Firefox 3.5.
