OCSP error when accessing secure sites

OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) is a feature that checks the validity of security certificates used by secure (https) sites. In Firefox 2, if you enable OCSP and the OCSP service you chose is malfunctioning, Firefox will give you an OCSP error message.

Firefox 2:

This issue is among many that can be solved by upgrading to Firefox 3.

In Firefox 2, the only way to stop these error messages is to disable OCSP.

  1. At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
  2. Click the Advanced icon. The Advanced settings panel will display.
  3. Click the Encryption tab.
  4. Click Verification.
  5. Select Do not use OCSP for certification validation.
  6. Press OK.
  7. Close the options panel.

With OCSP disabled, you should not receive any more OCSP errors.
