Navigation Toolbar items

The Navigation toolbar contains the tools used to navigate to websites, as well as the Location bar and Search bar.

Linux:
Firefox on Linux uses icons from your system theme. The icons shown below might not match what you see when using Firefox on Linux systems.

Default Navigation toolbar

When you first run Firefox, the Navigation toolbar contains the following items:

Windows:

Windows 7 and Vista

Icon Description
Go back to the previous page, or forward to the next page in history
Reload the current page
Stop loading the current page
Open your home page(s)

Windows XP

Icon Description
Go back to the previous page, or forward to the next page in history
Reload the current page
Stop loading the current page
Open your home page(s)

Mac OS:

Icon Description
Go back to the previous page, or forward to the next page in history
Reload the current page
Stop loading the current page
Open your home page(s)

Linux:

Icon Description
Go back to the previous page in history
Go or forward to the next page in history
Reload the current page
Stop loading the current page
Open your home page(s)

Location and Search tools

Display Description
In the Location bar, the location of the current Web page is displayed. To go to a new Web page, enter a URL and press EnterReturn.
In the Search bar, you can search the Web using the search engine of your choice. To search for a new term, enter your text string in the Search bar and press EnterReturn.

Customizing the toolbar

You can customize the Navigation toolbar to add any of the following items:

Windows:

Display of the progress of current downloads through the Downloads Manager
Display the pages you've viewed recently in the History sidebar
Display your bookmarks in the Bookmarks sidebar

Spacing the toolbar icons

You can also add spacing in the toolbar, if desired.

Icon Description
You can define flexible space of a predefined width.
This spacing tool adapts its width depending on the items in your Navigation bar.
