Disabling third party cookies

Third party cookies are cookies that are set on a site that can be read by another site. An advertiser can use third party cookies to track your visits on every site that they advertise on. Disabling third party cookies can stop some tracking by advertisers, but not all (and possibly not even most).

To disable third party cookies:

2.0:
  1. In the Location Bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn. A list of preferences will appear in the resulting page.
  2. Look for the preference network.cookie.cookieBehavior and double click on it.
  3. In the Enter integer value dialog, type 1 and press OK.
3.0:
  1. At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
  2. Click the Privacy icon. The Privacy panel is displayed.
  3. Click the checkbox to clear the option, Accept third-party cookies .
  4. Click OK to close the Options windowClick Close to close the Preferences windowClose the Preferences window.

3.5:
  1. At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
  2. Select the Privacy panel.
  3. Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.
  4. Uncheck Accept third-party cookies.
  5. Click OK to close the Options windowClick Close to close the Preferences windowClose the Preferences window.


Third party cookies will now be blocked.
