Norton 360 for Windows includes a firewall component that controls which programs that can connect to the outside world and what types of connections they are make.
Norton 360 can sometimes erase Firefox's browsing history and bookmarks. It also includes an "Eavesdropping Protection" feature, which can mis-identify Firefox and prevent it from working properly. This article describes how to configure Norton 360 to allow Firefox to work normally.

Problems with bookmarks, toolbar buttons, and history
You may have a problem with a component of Norton 360 if you are experiencing certain symptoms after upgrading to or installing Firefox 3, including:
- Bookmarks disappearing
- Bookmarks not saving
- History not working
- Toolbar buttons not working

Firewall
- Right-click the Norton 360 icon (a yellow circle) in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen. Select Open Norton 360 Main Menu. The Norton 360 window will appear.
- Click the Settings item at the top of the Norton 360 window to open the Settings window.
- Underneath the Detailed Settings header, click the Firewall Protection item to open the Firewall Protection Settings window.
- Click the Program Rules tab at the top of the window to access Norton 360's list of known programs.
- Find Mozilla Firefox in the list of programs and click on it to select it.
- In the Access column, click the down arrow to change Firefox's status from Custom to Allow
- Click Close to finish making changes
Eavesdropping Protection
If Firefox crashes or won't start after installing Norton 360, check Norton 360's "Eavesdropping Protection" settings.
- Right-click the Norton 360 icon (a yellow circle) in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen. Select Open Norton 360 Main Menu. The Norton 360 window will appear.
- Click the Settings item at the top of the Norton 360 window to open the Settings window.
- Underneath the Detailed Settings header, click the Eavesdropping Protection item to open the Firewall Protection Settings window.
- If Firefox is in the list, click on its list item, and then click Allow/Block to change its status to Allowed
- Click Close to finish making changes
Firefox Privacy Cleanup
If after install Norton 360, Firefox does not retain your private data (i.e. Browsing history, Cookies, Download history, etc.), check its "Firefox Privacy Cleanup" settings.
- Right-click the Norton 360 icon (a yellow circle) in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen. Select Open Norton 360 Main Menu. The Norton 360 window will appear.
- Click the Settings item at the top of the Norton 360 window to open the Settings window.
- On the right side of the window, under the Quick Controls header, click to remove the check mark beside Firefox Privacy Cleanup
- Click Close to finish making changes
