Mozilla is not planning any further security and stability updates for Firefox 2, and recommends that you upgrade to Firefox 3 as soon as possible. It's free, and your settings and bookmarks will be preserved.
Also, the Phishing Protection service will no longer be available for Firefox 2 users. Firefox 3 offers a free Phishing and Malware Protection service, which will continue to protect you from online scams and attacks.
Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox
This article covers why you would not be able to access any websites after upgrading Firefox. You may instead get "Unable to connect" or "Server not found" error pages.
The cause
The most common cause of this problem is firewall software. Some firewalls silently block the updated version of Firefox from accessing to the Internet. Even if the firewall is supposedly disabled or uninstalled, it may still be active.
To fix it
- Make sure your firewall is up-to-date.
- If updating the firewall doesn't correct the problem, remove the Firefox entries and add them again.
Below are links to tutorials on configuring certain firewalls. Click on the tutorial for the firewall you are using.

- Download Enum Process.
- After downloading, double-click EnumProcess.exe.
- Select Run.
- In the drop-down menu to the right, select Simple.

- Click List Processes.
