Firefox won't close unless I go to task manager... I can still load pages after hitting "x" or right clicking and selecting "close"... but need to go to task manager to shut it down

when I download or install Firefox I have no problem but once installed when I go to the web site it always comes up godaddy.com. This does not happen on my Laptop running windows vista but does on my desktop running windows XP. I had Firefox previously
