I have tried all the remedy options and still the problem re-occurs. After a clean re-install with ZA off it initially works, but on restarting with Zone Alarm Extreme switched on the next time it came back; I think the problem lies with Zone Alarm 3.5.5.

Try just turning off ForceField and then see if Firefox will start.

After further experimentation I find (on my machine at least):

With Zone Alarm Extreme Security ON, trying to start FF 3.5.5 generates the DLL js3250 error. Deleting FF and reinstalling generates a crash report on starting (and doesn't start).

With ZAES on and Virus protection OFF - same result.

With ZAES Off (disabled) complete reinstall works and FF starts.

Turn ZAES ON whilst FF is open - no problems.
Close FF down and attempt to restart it - back to the crash report!

It would appear to be a compatibility problem.
