'Browser Highlighter' icon appeared on my toolbar with a recent Firefox update, but I've searched Mozilla help, and can't find out how it works, or how to delete it, or any info at all. Thanks.

Quarantine

That does not sound like a Firefox option, it may be an option from the Google Toolbar

Thanks Q, I understand why you might think I have this 'highlighter' confused with the one that is available on Google Toolbar. But it appears in my Firefox toolbar. After much research, I find that it is authored by Ebay, and probably came in with the new Skype update that I just did. (ebay owns skype). Turns out it does appear in my add-ons list, and comes packaged with a Paypal widget, skype widget, ebay widget, which can all be toggled on or off, or uninstalled. FYI. Thanks. Susan

What the hell is this dialog with buttons that do not work doing on my Firefox browser. Does not matter what page I point to at startup, and refreshing the page is no help. Delete the last chacter (\) of the URL and it goes away...

WHAT IS THIS WART!

the same happens to me, you cant click on anything...its annoying, thought it was some virus

I saw a picture and a radio button in left corner. It only come when is saw i large size image. why thats happening.

I am experiencing the same problem when I am on Firefox. The box appears whenever i open a Link. None of the buttons work on it and I can't delete it at all!
How would I get it from e-Bay when I have never used e-Bay?
What is the best way to eliminate it?

go to tools and add on's on the top menu bar and you can uninstall it.

Thanks a million, Unbekannt!

I got the same thing, the Browser Highlighter:update.... How do I remove or eliminate this permanently.

I started this thread, and if you'll look at what I answered after Quarantine tried to help, you'll see that I explain fully what I found out, and it does appear in your 'add-ons' under the 'Tools' menu. There it can be disabled, or uninstalled, just as Unbekannt already responded. We're only discussing the "browser highlighter" here. It might actually be a useful add-on for many folks. S.

Thank you SO much---I HAD that stupid pop-up ad on thing too..it was SO annoying.
You guys saved me!

What a relief! Thanks. Been looking for days on how to disable this monster.

Thanks, Unbekannt!!!

Thank you all! Getting rid of the notice "VERSION 1.5 OF BROWSER HIGHLIGHTER UPGRADE" is a relief . That NOTICE FREEZES the SCREEN" . E-bay should really get some complaints on this one...

right is usefull for some folks but not for me or all of us in this blog anyways thanks evryone who is having problems with the flashlight go to tools and add on and get rid of it

Thank you so so much for the help Susan, this was total bs.

Thanks Unbekannt, That Helped

The eBay Browser highlighter" is recommended on the Firefox add-on page and is updatesd by Firefox. Then why does this add-on (which I also don't want) operate differently on the drop-down menu, i.e. the uninstall button is greyed out. If FF (who opdates as it did this morning) cannot uninstall it then at least the FF knowledge base or support could provide an informational piece on how to uninstall it.

From "Usually-not-so-unhappy-with-FF)

I am not able to uninstall add-on. I can select click uninstall and FF says it will be gone when I restart, but when I restart Firefox, it comes right back. No add-on should force itself on your browser.
